It just so happens that everytime I use an unconventional smoke to enable several exit-points or apply pressure or whatever I get flamed by the teammates that don't understand how to play with it. So I go back to using smokes everyone on my team can understand. I'm Plat/Dia by the way...

Communicate and tell them what u're smoking. For example: "Hey kay/o, I'm smoking close so we pop flash at entry, it's our eco, let's risk it"

Maybe you’re using them properly, but usually the people I meet that use them are doing it at the expense of their team. The doctor freeze clip makes sense, because he’s alone on a site with 2 entry points. A normal smoke won’t help because no one else is watching the entry choke, and he can’t watch 2 entry chokes at the same time, so by doing his smokes he doesn’t hurt his team but he does help himself. On the other hand, if your team has rifles and the enemy team is on eco, and 2 other people are on site with you, and you do those smokes cuz you’re playing a judge, youre doing this at the expense of your teammates and selfishly expecting them to just deal with it or play around it. In that case, the smokes only benefit you in this situation and actually hurt your teammates against your ecoing opponents.

I mean you can't just do whatever you think is smart with no communication and expect everyone to instantly understand and play off of it What if a smoke you just placed blocked off a potential frag for your teammate? What if they just whipped out a flash they intended to use to push the part of the map you just smoked off?

Just wanted to clarify “smoking off tripwires” and elaborate for people new to the controller role. The narrator said “smoke off a tripwire,” but you cannot smoke off a Cypher tripwire. You can smoke off other Sentinel “flank watching utility” such as Chamber trip and Killjoy alarm bot and turret because they are vision-activated (alarm bot is similar enough). Smoking off Deadlock’s sonic sensors would be pointless because they are noise-activated, not vision-activated. Hope this was helpful to someone (:

Well it depends on the importance of the round. If you made a creative play but has no result or it was a selfish play with no impact then of course you will be critized for that bad play. But if you create those plays to create an impact like you know the enemy is aggressive so you play close or you know that you have an ally anchoring a site and smoking some angles for him to have more 1v1 instead of getting rushed. So being creative does not always give good results. Cause most probably the plays that always get criticized is because you made a controller become a duelist which is not the main role of a controller. If you just want kills then just go initiator or duelist

@@prognargada im referencing multiple normal games, not even comp. In comp its been better because closer matchibg skill level, minus the countless smurfs. As a side note, not a lot of people like to play smoke so we end up being picked out of necessity, ppl still get mad. So sooo sooooo many people see a smoke and just push it and die to face checking 4 ppl, turn around and yell at the smoker.

Tbh smokers such as me knows these things to the heart, its just a lot of us, especially those introverted (like me) don't dare to call for smokes. We fear the consequences to come if anything fails even if it is not our fault.

that's understandable and my advice is much easier said than done: but try to keep the mental that you'll never see these people again. If your comm goes bad and you get flamed, mute them and comm to the rest of the team. If the flame or throw, it happens. Just end the game and go next and try to assume people are down to comm properly til proven otherwise

tbf as much as I do agree about the not using all your smokes at the start of a round it does depend on the match, map, enemy team agents and enemy aggression level as well as which smoker you have. As an Omen main I sometimes use both smokes early on at the start as I know that I'll get them back afterwards but using all brims smokes start of the round yeah, that's not ideal

Bro, this ONE VIDEO alone helped me INSTANTLY. I hopped into comp as clove and started being more creative with mid site smokes on defense and post-entry. 3 Clutches, and an ace-clutch and one near-clutch. I always knew controllers were the most pressured to play out clutch situations but I never realized I would be able to do that as well. I am not about to buy the course but DAMN this was like a wake up call for me thank you.

As a controller main, this video made me really proud of how much i've learnt and how much of this video I already knew. And this video is totally right. Smokes are probably the most unique and important role in the game. If done right it could mean the difference of winning and losing. And with a lot of duelst players going to clove, ive had a ton of players throw the game by messing up smokes, denying out team info, this video is a must see for all those new clove players

Yesterday on bind 1v3 with clove on B site, on long with OP, one site, one no info, put smoke garden so long gets trapped, kill reyna on site while he was going for elbow after seeing my smoke thinking I will be there and I was on her back, seeing brimstone on heaven and got an efective shot, finally threw smoke on spike, defused half, kayo pushed and took vandal from elbow, I threw my decompose and kill him and took the round

I am a smokes main. I feel like I mastered the role to some degree. I am playing Clove atm and I am having a blast. A tip for Clove specifically when you are dead, if a teammate is playing super aggressively or camping a useless corner, smoke them. in the first scenario they will think, do they want to continue aggressing? or will they back off? in the second, it will force them into a more proactive position. It may not be the most game breaking tip but I won rounds like that.

Problem with midsite smokes is that it can also be used by enemy players , smooth brained players who never played controllers or have not seen anything outside the standard smokes never use it to their advantage

Best way to play smokes is to communicate with the team, thats why I play 5 stack so that my team listens when I call a strart based on smoke and we get used to it by doing it often.

Depending on how severe it is, we'd recommend seeing a doctor! Lots of gamers struggle with different sorts of neck, back, wrist pain. Apparently it's not very healthy to sit for multiple hours at a time.

I’m the opposite. Omen has one less smoke, but you recover them over time. Paranoia is very clutch when stuck in spots that requiring crossing over or when coordinating with teammates to push. Teleport same idea, use it to get to spots the enemy won’t expect like higher angles or using it to peak like jump teleporting. His ult, screws the enemy’s map for a bit and you can go ANYWHERE you like. I usually smoke off heaven sites, wait a bit, then TP into the smoke. His ult is also good to teleport plant by grabbing it then canceling the ult. Helps your team avoid unnecessary fights. Used to be a harbor main with your same thoughts but now I only use omen now

The playerbase is finally realizing this now and they are improving so quickly. I can't do my usual strats anymore to easily rank up anytime soon lol. The more people know this info, the more I have to think of my own strategies again to win. Which is fun, don't get me wrong, but this is why I don't reveal my tricks and playstyle most of the time. Because in the end, in this game, once you effectively control information in some way, you have the upper hand. And the controller role is excellent at that. It is called a controller for a reason. I'm not saying that everyone should always play controller however, to the point of making it a 5man, as every role shines in various situations and every agent can become a duelist at some point. Valorant is still a team game. But pair a controller agent up with a player with an average aim but with a decent or good mind, rank won't matter at all. And aim? It won't have as much of an impact if it's suppressed and outplayed by util. Valorant always has been a mind game with team elements from the very start. And I'm so glad I started playing it. Let's just forget about the toxicity...
