Scag walk behinds are the way to go imo. I’ve got an ‘04 SWZ and it goes like stonk, I’m sure I’ve blasted saplings into pulp with it before (they were dead prior (and after))
@bunnywarren6 жыл бұрын
Does the mower deck have a side discharge because if that's blocked up then it wouldn't be able to clear the grass fast enough? You would be flattening it rather than cutting during the taller sections. At the beginning it looks like it may be blocked.
@thijsv.dwoude10196 жыл бұрын
That's jd is very nice 😍, i've got a Husqvarna ts238 but that's a smaller one.
@jman4901016 жыл бұрын
Thijs v.d Woude I agree. A few of my neighbors have JD's. Ya they are really nice but I like my Husqvarna GT48XLSI.
@domskinner6 жыл бұрын
There’s nothing wrong with the mower, it’s just the length of the grass you are cutting. Rotary decks don’t really like cutting long grass, the grass tends to fold over and pass under the blades then pops back up the other side. You’ll also have the same issue where the tyres flatten the grass.
@nzlandrew6 жыл бұрын
Good chance the leaf loss is stress related due the lack of moisture if you have had it really dry and next spring they will bud again.

The worst thing when cutting long grass is hidden objects!!! Great video BTW ;)

Hey man! I'm jealous of how much land you have, it's beautiful, lots of potential! Quick question though, is it rented or did your purchase it?
@georgerea19346 жыл бұрын
In 2014 I cut 20 acres on a weekend with a smaller mower than that and it missed quite a bit
@fredrikahlin61286 жыл бұрын
You should mow the grass with a scythe or a sicklebar mower and pick it up in some way, Because when you are leaving all the grass, you are giving back the nutrients to the grass which will make the grass growing more.
@Daggerwin6 жыл бұрын
That's a fair point, although it's probably easier just to keep cutting it than moving and storing the cut grass. Like your thinking though
@bunnywarren6 жыл бұрын
Leaving the grass behind should help reduce the evaporation by giving a covering to the bare ground. I'd say leaving it would be better, at least initially until the trees have put down a decent tap root.

Sickle mowers are very dangerous though

I reckon removing the mulching kit would help the clumping and having to go over twice. The grass is to long to be mulched.

The top speed is 8.5 which is not much of an improvement from our GX 345 from 2004 and it will do 7. Now that I think about it, 1.5 is not too bad of an improvement. Could be faster though for 10 or so years since our tractor was being manufactured.

FishingCrafter or a strimmer
@jman4901016 жыл бұрын
FishingCrafter that's true but you can't do any thing else with it. I have no problem going around trees with my GT48xlsi Husky. I'm not into John Deer.
@themintlord47446 жыл бұрын
False. It can be used for mowing just like a normal mower. I cut a field with one once.
@jman4901016 жыл бұрын
FishingCrafter that's why it's called a zero turn mower! But you can't pull anything behind it, use a snow blower or any other attachment.
@themintlord47446 жыл бұрын
Jason Santora some can pull trailers. Also most non zero turn lawn mowers can't do that kind of stuff either
