Well, at least they're taking measures to help control their population, via a humane way, and help preserve them, rather than just killing them off. Id love to take a trip to the salt river, and see them in their majestic beauty.

How about leave them be. Let them do what they do vs give them birth control.

Wild Mustang’s are beautiful. The majority of these horses are dumped from their owners,. The branding marks show. The big cattle ranches here have a handshake, a wink and a promise AZ. are providing for their livestock ( free)! . Thus “ native species “. must be killed, harmed etc... the shame is on all whom have taken part in destroying the land. There are rescue groups, I work with one of them. Some of these comments are ignorant.

I have mixed feelings about feeding "wild" horses. Some are suggesting these are domesticated horses that have been released. Can someone please clarify this for me?

These are wild horses, not domestic. I'm a native Arizonan, they are the real deal. And we keep a distance from the herd so as not to disturb them.

this is not good. more thumbs down. this is not a humane way of population control, and these horses destroy so much native wildlife. poor job.

It is beyond disturbing to me to hear that so many people have elevated these animals to a status of more important than people. It's clearly obvious that these horses have destroyed the resource by their over population with no natural competitors on an already starving landscape. Just look at the the images you submitted in this crazy video...there isn't a blade of grass anywhere to be seen; and it's not because of drought. Heavy hooved and too many square toothed animals are more than this arid land can support. Animals, if truly "wild" (which these are not by even a million miles), should be self-sustaining. It breaks my heart to hear how much is being spent on feeding these horses when they should be able to take care of themselves. Especially when poverty and hunger in our own communities are at all time highs... and rather than helping out our fellow brothers and sisters with food and shelter, you all are buying hay to feed animals that shouldn't even be there. The greatest commandment is to love The Lord your God with all your heart, mind, and spirit, and the second is to LOVE THEY NEIGHBOR as yourself.... People are more important in the eyes of the Lord, not horses!

Amen. I can’t stand when I here about all these resources being spent on animals when there are starving, suffering children that could use that money to eat even once a week.

They are NOT wild horses and they are NOT in their natural habitat. They are in the natural habitat of the actual native species that are wildlife. These horses are considered feral livestock and they are destroying the habitat. Some of them are really pretty, but the majority of them are sickly, there is not enough food in the region as they eat it all and destroy the vegetaion so that it doesn't grow back. (unlike the native ungulates) Dozed die of painful colic becaue the only food available is mesquite bean which they canot digest. This SRWH group is causing more harm and inhumane living for these horses by 'protecting' them.
