I never thought this movie was 'the gayest movie of all time'. I never got any gay vibes when I first saw in the theater. For me, it was another slasher that has a guy as the victim instead of a girl. I never thought Jesse was gay and I believe that some people are saying that is because Mark Patton came out.

I didn't notice any of that till I got older. And even then I still do not care

I agree. I truly don't think people started labeling it as that until after he came out in real life. Thanks, Monty!

Jessie may have been a final guy, but let's not forget that Lisa was a final girl as well. And I'll be honest, had a bit of a girl crush on Lisa as well. Let's just say, the pool house scene was paused quite a bit while watching it, if you know, you know. As for the gay subtext, no matter if it was intentional this time or not, I see it as how they did Social Commentary at the time, where yeah, it's there, but done in a subtle way, and they put the story first and foremost. Compared to today when they have Social Commentary, they beat you over the head with it, and if there even is a story, it's tossed in the background, I personally prefer the way they use to do it. No matter the gay subtext or not, I still do really enjoy this movie for the story. But let me see what see what Jason has to say. Thank you.

Very well said, Jen. I agree with you. I much prefer secondary subtext to being bashed in the end with social commentary. I definitely understand your crush on Lisa and desire to pause the movie. Haha! Thanks so much!

Agree 100% boss. This is my favorite one and was also my first but it stands as a great fun flick that I also feel a lot of nostalgia for it. Is it gay? Only in retrospect, we fans that saw it back in the 80s, never viewed it that way - a product of it's time. You're right, this debate is one of convenience based on the contemporary obsession with the subject matter, a retcon if you will. I will freely admit, it makes rewatching this even more fun, seeing it in another light. Couldn't care less what the character's orientation is, a good movie will shine regardless. This is kinda like watching THE WIZARD OF OZ and listening to 'Dark Side of the Moon' simultaneously, it's convenient and fun to debate they wrote the album to play with it but that's a retcon idea that simply don't add up. I only bring it up to show, you see what you want to see and great art will allow different interpretations, any art gallery will agree with that.

Well said as always. You;re absolutely right. It's a retrospect thing. Some people seem to believe it was always seen the way it is now, but that is simply not the case. Thank you for watching and commenting, my friend!

I’m just glad that more people like this movie now, it used to constantly be at the bottom of the rankings. Great Controversial View!

The movie just looked like a typical slasher 80s film, when I was a kid. It wasn't until social media came to be that people would comment and point out any type of undertones from the movie. It's just like the hunky poster of Rob Lowe on Sam's bedroom closet in The Lost Boys...probably had people wondering about that too.

Exactly! Spot on. I agree. I truly feel like people are reaching. They've been conditioned by others to see something that wasn't intended. Thanks so much for watching and commenting! I appreciate it.

Back in the day, when I first saw A Nightmare 2, I seriously didn't see anything gay about it. Well maybe the teacher. But I think in this day and age after Stone Wall and pride parades it shouldn't be controversial anyway. Good controversial view and cool video Joe!👉🙂👈
