@Miguel Messina in my opinion, yeah. He essentially functions as a worm sometimes and a trojan horse at others. Some parts of the metaphor don’t work, obviously, because he wasn’t written specifically to exist as a human version of malicious programming, but I think that the way he functions, travels, manipulates, and destroys people is accurate on a base enough level that I like the comparison.

An interesting aspect of Freddy Krueger as a character is that he manages to have a distinct personality, unlike Jason and Michael who are just psycho zombies, but still scary, unlike Chucky and Leprechaun. Yeah, I wouldn't hesitate in saying he's my favourite horror movie villain, at least from the big franchises.
@ValentinoTarhan3 жыл бұрын
To play devils advocate, Freddy's distinct personality is a positive & negative with every sequel he became more comedic & cheesy by the end he became a full blown joke full of one liners this is my main issue with the character I don't find him scary he just makes me laugh & for me that's the worst thing you can do in a horror movie, I understand Michael & Jason are zombie like lacking emotion but that's what's scary about them. I recognise Freddy's impact on the genre & I actually enjoy some of his films Freddy v Jason & the remake being my faves this is just my opinion I respect yours aswell. 😈👍
@luismarioguerrerosanchez47473 жыл бұрын
@Miguel Messina I know, what I meant was that he acts like a zombie: doesn't talk, doesn't gesticulate and always moves slowly. Just to clarify, I do like Michael and I the first Halloween is my favourite slasher film. But Freddy has much more personality, a thing that makes for a more enjoyable experience even in the bad Nightmare sequels, compared to to Halloween Resurrection or Curse where Michael shows to not be a compelling character outside of that first great film.
@luismarioguerrerosanchez47473 жыл бұрын
@@ValentinoTarhan I can see that, but as James said, Freddy's creativity makes for more diverse killings that give each sequel a uniqueness to it (part one has Glenn's eating bed, Dream Warriors has needles Freddy, Dream Master has the bug killing scene) compared to Michael's knife stabbings that after the part 2 becomes boring and predictable.

IMHO Freddy looked the most menacing and stylistically scary in Freddy's Revenge. The creepy contact lenses made him even more otherworldly. His burnt face makeup is the most real and gross-out looking from all the films (where in most of the Freddy movies it looks a lot of times too slick and pizza'y) Also Robert Englund's serious acting and expressive body language and gestures with the hat are the most cinematically strong and horrific.
@bproElwin3 жыл бұрын

A friend of mine worked on Robert Englund's indie film "Inkubus" in 2010 and my son and I visited the set. Aside from the cool body bits lying around and occasional severed head on set, I was able to talk to Robert about the then recent remake. He was surprisingly candid and said he wasn't a fan because he couldn't believe in the actors playing the teens. He felt they just didn't LOOK like scared teens - they looked like drugged up adults. He didn't say much more, but that was pretty telling. And I'm sure it doesn't need saying, but I will say it - Robert is an amazing guy and spent a while discussing his love for independent horror films and named quite a few. Class act. New Nightmare was my second favorite to the original! I love when the limo driver is telling her how much he loves her in her films. Then he gets all descriptive and she rolls the window up on him. Wes Craven will be missed in the horror world!
@richieboostajr.353 жыл бұрын
Yes, it grew on me,too. I like the settings and script. Good effects and Wes' direction. I also really like Julie as a good character she was; loving,caring, and protective. Shame she died like Tina did. She reminds me of a family friend that loved me growing up as a kid. Wes is sorely missed.

I personally liked Dr. Gordon's character in Dream Warriors, he felt like one of, if not the only, adult in the series, outside of Nancy of course, who really seemed to care about the kids' well-beings and wanting to help them instead of being dismissive of Freddy's existence. Congrats on the wedding and getting Heather Langenkamp to officiate it. That must be a dream come true.....as long as Freddy doesn't show up and turn it into a nightmare.
@Amanda-kd1zr Жыл бұрын
Agreed! He genuinely listened and wanted to help. His business with Amanda Krueger wasn't boring to me either, it helped establish some interesting lore about Freddy in his backstory. Plus, his relationship with Nancy helped add layers to the connections the characters in the movie had.

"Ken Kirzinger's cool and all but his Jason seems sleepy-eyed and bored." Allegedly one of the reasons the director of Freddy vs. Jason picked Kirzinger to play Jason was because of his eyes.
@mtb54313 жыл бұрын
It definitely should’ve been Hodder. He was so excited to play be in FvJ you know he would’ve been amazing. I still enjoyed the movie but Jason gets smacked around way to much. In the dream world it made sense but Freddy still dominated him for the majority of the fight at Crystal Lake. Kane would’ve definitely spoken up there.

@@mtb5431 fr, i feel like directors do that a lot, it’s really easy to Shift all the blame onto the evil entity that is “the studio” (dun dun dun). I feel like Freddy and Jason’s height difference isn’t something the studio cares about because height doesn’t make ticket sales and isn’t gonna exactly be a selling point like most cases of studio interferences are based on (like the studio firing (before later rehiring) American psychos director over her wanting to cast Christian Bale, a relative unknown vs Leonardo DiCaprio whom the studio wanted). It does however seem like it would be 100% the eye of the director that would decide it, additionally I think it’s such a minor thing that, if it was the studio, then Kane could probably get cast with any sort of fight from the director. The whole thing just seems fishy

All you need 1,3,4 and New Nightmare. I view 1,3 and 4 as a trilogy ending with Alice being the ultimate final girl. She was the most important using all gifts to defeat Freddy ultimately. Alice felt like a prophetic character needed to beat Freddy. Finally don't forget everyone complains about 2 having Freddy out of dreams and in real world yet that's what happened in New Nightmare. Crossover story.

To be fair, I liked the idea of Freddy's "charm" (as he, himself, once put it) being part of a demonic origin--it shows that he was seen as too evil to be a human and was "rewarded" for his crimes at the end of his life with immortality. Pretty dang ironic, if you ask me! owo;;; Also, congrats on Nancy being your witness to your wedding!
