I just bought a convection oven last week. It's being delivered the day after tomorrow. Price wise, it was a little less than 20% more expensive, but I think the flexibility it will give me will compensate for the additional cost. Reducing the temperature by 1/5 or reducing the time by 1/5 will depend on what it is I'm baking. For example, if it's a ham, I'd reduce the temperature. If it's muffins, I'd reduce the time. But that's what I'm thinking right now. I've been cooking for 48 years and have never used a convection oven! I've already decided that the first thing I'll use it for is baked potatoes.

i cooked a pizza in my microwave which is a convection oven and air fryer too.... in convection mode. Now I always did them in a regular stove, and was ok, but wow, in the convection mode, the pizza was much better, granted, slightly burnt, but didnt taste burnt, i just need to lower the time, as i followed the time the box said, as I alwasy done. even cooking vegetables wtih meat was way more enjoyable.

As a renter I want someone to invent an aftermarket convection fan to place in existing ovens.
@jitneyjet7 жыл бұрын
There used to be one I saw back in the late 80's early 90's. It was a thing you put on the bottom shelf of your oven that you had to wind up and it blew the air around. It was kinda like the old Nordic Ware thing you wound up and put in your microwave that would turn your food around like the turntable on a record player. Sorry, but I can't remember who made it or the name of it. Perhaps you could get with someone who could 're-invent' the device and we will see y'all on Shark Tank!!! Hey, I'm just sayin'....I think it's about time such a device comes back into the market place!!! Good Luck and God Bless You!!!

The funny thing is that the term "convection oven" is really a misnomer, since the forced circulation of the air is intended to mitigate the effects of actual convection (i.e. warmer air rising, causing uneven temperatures).
@TitoHopia6 жыл бұрын
Thanks you must be fun at parties
@edwardo7372 жыл бұрын
Not a misnomer. Convection refers to heat transfer via moving air. In the scenario of warm air rising in a conventional oven, the air is barely moving compared to air blown by a convection oven fan. I’m also fun at parties.
@Antenox2 жыл бұрын
@@edwardo737 No, convection refers to the movement of a fluid, not heat transfer. Convection doesn’t even have to be due to heat. Heat transfer is conduction. I’m even less fun at parties.
@edwardo7372 жыл бұрын
@@Antenox dude lol convection is all about heat transfer. The “fluid” is a liquid or a gas, a gas (air) in the case of a convection oven. It sounds like you’re reading definitions and trying to make sense of them. Just trust me on this one.
@Antenox2 жыл бұрын
@@edwardo737 No, trust ME on this one. Convection doesn't have to involve heat transfer. Heat transfer is the most common cause of convection (so much so that thermal convection is assumed if no other cause for the convection is specified), but it's not the only thing that can cause convection. The reason why heat transfer causes convection is because fluids have different densities at different temperatures, but heat is not the only thing that can cause a fluid to change its density. A simple example of non-thermal convection is saline; when salt is mixed into the top layer of a body of fresh water, the salty water moves down the water column and fresh water rises up, which is convection.

What about those NuWave ovens that have been selling since the early 1990s? They have Convection and Infrared. They claim faster cooking using less electricity than a normal oven. Would love to see some actual tech specs done to see if that is true.
@bb987r7 жыл бұрын
TekReviews they are trash i had 4 they brake in less then a month and your electricity goes up like a 100 dollars
@cuddles69387 жыл бұрын
***** I doubt your electric goes up much the ratings for the power draw are written on the mfg label on the bottom of anything you buy. You can use a Kill A Watt device to show you just how much power something draws that's plugged into it. I haven't read much about their reliability but we have had some toaster ovens that are crap, even some toasters. Get a decent brand and they should last a long time otherwise buy a commercial restaurant unit.

How much does your roast dries? Non fan ovens actually cost More to manufacture Not less a little cheap fan is far less expensive than Insulating your oven well with quality insulating materials , try disconnecting the fan from your oven n see the state of your oven housing after If its not set alight in the mean time as for gas energy Rating its ALL crap they are ALL A rated naturally Because the Original A Rating Is now A*** so the new A rating is the same as the OLD D rating no one would buy an energy D rated oven so they rebranded the D rating energy ovens as A n the original A rated are Now A*** Magic but their cooking is tragic still I No longer use an oven n when I want real roast I have my clay oven when its not too cold or raining
