I say do not fat shame, but I have seen an increase of too young to be in long term care, beautiful, albeit obese black women. One of my patients told me her birthday was coming. She told me her age and it is 5 years younger than me. She is on prn oxygen and cannot get out of the bed without a hoyer lift. Late 40's. I pray that I can be blessed to be an active loving encouragement to my black sisters. I've always wanted to do like a walking group etc. because the focus should be on overall health and mobility...not a particular esthetic.

bigger girls deserve to have more clothes that fit them period
@yasmeen787527 күн бұрын
Then make them. Nobody owes fat people clothes. Keep complaining because Nobody HAVE to make big clothes. Housing, work, ability to make money, Healthcare are all basic rights, but you getting too big to fit clothes is not. I'm big, I'm a size 10. I will control myself instead forcing others to do what they don't want.

It’s never a trending topic that taller women can’t find clothing in stores. I’m 5’10 and it’s really hard to shop in person

Shop where your size is available. I agree with Tacarra🤷🏿. Stop wanting to be where your not "wanted". Money talks and that's it, that's all.

Samyra personality is abrasive, but I understand why she’s so annoyed all the time. She wants better clothing options for plus sized women.

I’ve been a small fat my whole life between 8/10 -12 and I have spent my entire life dieting to combat “getting to fat” . I have battled body dysmorphia my whole life , as i am now 31 on another journey to be healthy I had to stop being so vain and focus on why I wanted to exercise and eat better , it’s a book called I’m so effing hungry by Amy Shah MD and it was pivotal for me shifting my perspective with food , I bored snack so I learned to address the small contributions that I used to Cope with daily stressors , it’s hard to not think about weight, so I learned to do it with a more healthy mindset, i still struggle with body dysmorphia but I know I will always have to combat that , I stopped caring about being thick and started caring about preserving my life

Sizes 8 - 12 are straight sizes. That is NOT small fat. Small fat is 1X - 2X.
@karlatyson1224 күн бұрын
@ hmm you just taught me something, I thought because I was in a 12 that made me plus sized , people would even refer to me as a bbw
@reneemattier588324 күн бұрын
@karlatyson12 I don't know what kind of people you're been around Hon, but plus sizes don't start till 14(1X). In MODELING size 12 is considered plus size...but then so is everything over a size 4 or 6. I forget. Also, last I checked the average size of a woman in America is a 16. I'm a 12....I just lost 52 pounds... and I'm in HEAVEN now over my weight. At my smallest I was a 2 or 4, but I feel damn good about the skin I'm in now, and always wanted to be thicker than a Snickers. I bet you look great. ❤️ EDIT BTW I went to your channel, and you are GORGEOUS.

It's crazy that we normalise certain human beings not having basic rights like clothes. We blame the individual for the sickness of our society. The way fatphobia is being advocated for these days is scary I feel bad for the next generation

I’d rather there be plus size workout clothes. You don’t want to be over 300 lbs. I agree with Tacarra on, that. Alcholics are addicted to drinks. Drug addicts to drugs. What do you think fat people are addicted to? Food. Instead of encouraging addiction, we need to promote weight loss.

Clothes for fat people is not a basic right. Clothes are available. The fat person let their body get too big for the "basic right".

I’m a small girl so I don’t know if I’m qualified to comment but I’ve studied health and fitness for a bit and my biggest pet peeve is that health is equated to weight or being skinny. Body size does not equate to health. Also, every deserves to feel beautiful and we need to start pressuring companies to be more inclusive. Change comes from demand and pressure
@KiaRoane29 күн бұрын
Ok but here’s the thing, just like there are women who are plus sized, who don’t mind being plus sized, and there women who don’t want to be plus sized, and want to loose weight. Both are valid, both are ok. We can hold space for both. A women saying she wants to loose weight, doesn’t need to be attacked.

Aren’t people allowed to look and feel beautiful on their weight loss journey?
@fae382128 күн бұрын
30:36 this is my thought process too. Are people supposed to be naked in the meantime or diy some fabric together and do some bippity boppity boop✨️👗?! Because I sew and making your own clothes isn't always that easy and I'm a M/L. But seriously it gets to the point where its not concern for someones health it's just mean girls saying "I don't like you and you shouldn't be seen outside your house." "You need to be more confident and go to the gym but I'm gonna bully you the whole journey and try to silence your advocacy." Girlie at 11:30 is right 🤷🏽♀️

I am going to have to agree with Tacarra here. I am always in support of women living in the body they choose without ridicule or judgment. However, as black women who have higher statistics of obesity, we can not ignore health. The fact that Samyra isn't alarmed by her weight alarms me. I respect that Tacarra acknowledges her weight and desire to change it.

With conservatism on the rise along with the fashion from 20 years ago that put rail thin bodies on a pedestal coming back with a vengeance, fatphobia is going to get exponentially worse. I feel for the vulnerable adolescent girls growing up during this cultural shift the most. 😣
@barbs130426 күн бұрын
I don’t . The adolescent girls have the knowledge and a choice to make. Whats truly on the rise again is fitness and health consciousness. Which I think we really needed. They’re talking about actually banning certain ingredients in foods now , like europe does ! Thats a good thing ! Fatphobia ? We SHOULD be afraid of being unhealthy. Obese people in their 30’s are dying of heart attacks. These plus size influencers that pushed the body positivity movement are getting older now and they’re not going to live that long.. I don’t support being rail thin at all. But i definitely dont support extra weight on your organs, not being able to go up a flight of steps, no physical fitness whatsoever, plaque in arteries, diabetes… the list goes on. A woman NEEDS some meat on her bones in order to be healthy , we actually aren’t able to conceive without extra weight. But she dont need to be over 200lbs. Trust. I am 5’10. 170lbs. and i am healthy. At 180 i felt absolutely terrible. Imagine carrying around an extra 10lbs all day, i felt like dog shit. If i was 200lbs i imagine i’d probably have a heart attack. I cant imagine these women who are shorter than me and weigh more.
@barbs130426 күн бұрын
However, what i think NEEDS to also be addressed is that there is a stark difference between a black woman and a white/other ethnicity woman’s body. We will never look like that. Different ethnicities carry their weight differently. I see black girls putting white women/other race women as “bodygoals” and i just think… erm…. you will never look like that.. and its an unhealthy view of our own bodies.. As a black and puertorican woman, my weight is stored in my hips and breast. So even when i was 10lbs heavier, ppl called me “thick” and I didnt look unhealthy but i FELT unhealthy, my breathing was labored and I was bloated, CONSTANTLY. I feel like theres too much leeway with this because black women carry our weight differently. Like, because the “tummy flat” that means we’re healthy.. no, no, and no.

The commentary from the person discussing the types of plus size models and sexualization was really good and interesting. I've noticed how many plus size fashion influencers are suddenly talking about intentional weight loss and was disturbed until one of them admitted it was because companies have slowed on hiring plus size models over a 2x :( I can't even be mad at Toccara because I remember when I used to hold those views I felt so bad about my body and spent 70% of my time thinking about my diet and what I looked like and what I needed to do to keep my body a certain way or get it to look a certain way. It's freeing to free up your brain space and I hope that for everyone

How come when people try to jump off buildings or do euthanasia, there is an uproar? I thought people could do whatever they want and we shouldnt talk about the danger and their bad decision? Should suicide prevention be called choicephobic?? Some things we humans choose to do are crazy. Idk if you calling me scared to make yourself feel better.

Soo... we just not gone talk abot how Shacarra was literally almost the same size as Samyra not a year ago. Its pretty clear to me she got her body done so to fat shame anyome from that perspective is WILD with a capital W. Like you deff should have kept ur mouth shut but to be loud and wrong and a hypocrite is crazy. I wish people would stop acting like it;s coming from a place of care. If you're ok with letting the world tell you how to look then cool Ms Shacarra. If you're ok with people who don't know a damn thing about your lifestyle, eating habbits or health dictating how you look then cool Ms Shacarra. Just don't hate the women that choose not to. Like...damn god forbid a human person want clothes that look sflattering on them.

The comedian lady is just as huge as the influencer only difference is a little bit of lipo. Y’all have to realize big girls get surgery too. They shame women with natural bodies too just like skinny bbl girls.
