Converge are a huge band, probably one of the best known metalcore bands today. Jacob's vocals on first listen are usually really tough to get into, and he does not do his vocals directly to the lyrics, rather he will skip lines, cut out words, etc in the interest of having the song flow better. Even I didn't like Jacob's vocals at first, they were too extreme for me, but I love them now. Lyrically Jacob's lyrics tend to deal with sadness, breakups, loss of love, etc. This is one of their earlier records, but every album of theirs is fantastic, including their latest ones. Definitely a band worth diving further into.

@@hybridz4 Nah he got that right, they're metalcore. Early metalcore bands like Converge, Integrity, Earth Crisis etc were far more hardcore leaning, because metalcore or *metallic hardcore* was originally a particular style of metal influenced hardcore. The genre is obviously much more broad nowadays, but it still encompasses bands like Converge.

@@VinAndSori This is definitely a classic song, others that I'd definitely recommend would be Jane Doe, which while very different from this song, is the titular closing track of what is widely considered one of the greatest albums of all time, and an absolute landmark, definitely worth a live-listen at some point. Another newer classic would be All We Love We Leave Behind. You really can't go too wrong with Converge.

My favorite thing about the channel: in-depth, thought-provoking discussions of music as it’s heard for the first time. There are so many channels doing the same bands and the same metal genres. There is a whole world of stuff that has its own magic well worth checkin' out. You guys have touched on some of it with things like Dillinger Escape plan and Isis and Leviathan but there are many other great ones worth checking out like The Locust, Botch, Daughters, The Blood Brothers (how has no one on the internet done a reaction to this band yet), Drive Like Jehu, Sumac, Twilight, Deafheaven and Bosse De Nage to name but a few. Also not related but worth checking out are some big "90's bands" that seem to have slipped past all the reaction channels like Dinosaur Jr., Sonic Youth and The Afghan Whigs.

Every time you justify Another good in you dies Saw these guys at Hellfest in Syracuse NY in 2000. Coming from Australia, that show for me was absolutely epic. I had met Ben Kohler at a party in Boston and he was kind enough to give me a ride up there. Great band. Great song. Jacob is an amazing artist as well ❤ from Melbourne Australia 🇦🇺 - Edit - I believe they finished with this song. I found it online very recently. I was standing to the left of Ben on the side of the stage looking out to the crowd. Slightly terrified at the start, but before I knew it - it was over. And I wished it would start all over again.

And we won't be breathing In that same sun again None of this will ever Surface again How we get older How we forget about each other And the angel falls to the sky Raised and coiled She blessed this day, she did And it rings our ears She rarely flies anymore, burden broke her wings And I know this ghost, I have seen it before Young it is the dying too fast, too soon, I'll be okay The air thins in the quick and our lips move but we hear no sound She whispered "Every time you justify, another good in you dies" Your faith and fear seared me, and love and you pull all the right strings "How we get older, how we forget about each other," she said Entwined within the sadder of days
