The interviewers laugh was so irritating Also, although I love Andrew Neill, you don’t understand why younger generations want to ignore economic rules - it’s because they don’t have hope, don’t have affordable housing, and don’t have anything to lose. It isn’t because they are woke
@BobSmith-fx9sz
@BobSmith-fx9sz 6 ай бұрын
The claim Gen Z has no hope and so will ignore economic rules actually supports Neil's claim - it's a victim narrative that doesn't quite align with the economic facts Gen Z, as a cohort average, earn more than other generations when they were at the same age. The issue is the increased cost of large ticket items such as housing and university which was historically cheap for boomers. Small, essential items like grocery items are still cheaper now than for boomers.. This doesn't mean Gen Z "has no hope." It just means the experience of their 20s/30s will be different. "Woke" means being hyper aware of discrimination and is something some boomers and millennials are just as obsessed with - look at the university curriculum and you'll see upper generations pushing dated sociological theories from the 60s/70s in degrees such as medicine without any economic theory being taught alongside. We now push a majority of students through these institutions and so it's unsurprisingly a majority of Gen Z are "woke" and are seen as not being economically literate. In previous generations university students were a minority of their generation and so such effects were limited. The claim Gen Z has no hope and so will ignore economic rules actually supports Neil's claim - it's a victim narrative that doesn't quite align with the economic facts

@@ianfinnity2732 Trump and Putin had an understanding that Trump would pull the US out of NATO in his second term if he won. Instead, Trump lost and Putin's original plan was in tatters but he went for it anyway. The success of Putin's invasion hinged on Trump being in power.

A country that issues its own currency can always pay its debts. The treasury is the monopoly supplier of the currency. Therefor all so called borrowing by government from private sector must have at some time been issued by government. Therefore all government borrowing is self funded. Government deficit must equal private sector surplus. This is the basic rule of accountancy: assets - liabilities = equity.
@Kidderman2210
@Kidderman2210 Жыл бұрын
Your third sentence "Therefor all so called borrowing by government from private sector must have at some time been issued by government." is incorrect. True, the Government can in theory print as much money as it wishes, but that will lead to inflation. If it borrows too much from foreign sources and lenders do not think this is sustainable, this will caus an increase in interest rates on the debte and the value of the currency to fall . This is what happened when Liz Truss was in power. At least that is my understanding.

@1:19:00. The idea of ‘woke’ is to prevent successful multiracial societies and to cement the power of the tech elites by distracting the masses from issue of class and wealth inequality. My Grandfather was a Red Clyde socialist. He used to buy a magazine called the ‘Socialist Standard’. I found an article in it titled “Scratch the Liberal and find the Facist”. I laughed out load reading this and thought it a ridiculous oxymoronic statement. Now I know how wrong I was!😊

The term "Liberal" has been hi-jacked by the right. The Liberal party of the UK used to be progressive. Liberal governments introduced pensions, unemployment benefit and votes for women. It was a Liberal (Lord Beveridge) who first proposed the welfare state in 1944, which the Labour government of 1945 put into effect. Unfortunately, since Thatcher, "neo-Liberal" has come to mean free market, small government.

The suggestion Ben Shapiro lives in an echo chamber is absurd. He is famous for speaking on college campuses to raging left-wing student audiences, which he eagerly debates for hours, point by point. Come on Andrew. You should be big enough, and informed enough, to recognize Shapiro is a major conservative voice, regardless of your small run-in. It appears to me you have scarcely listened to him at all.

It’s clear from that interview that Ben Shapiro was unaccustomed to the notion a journalist may put the other side of an issue without being an ideological or partisan opponent.

The referendum should be on the removal of references to race in the Constitution. Not the addition of (the discriminatory doctrine of critical race theory, and structural racism,) more division. Australia for all Australians, equally, regardless of race, gender, (and perhaps most importantly whatever their cultural background, upbringing, and or acquirement.) The Voice is a race based position. The Voice will not be unrestricted because of race. The Voice will literally be restricted especially because of race. By definition The Voice will employ segregation and discrimination. By definition The Voice is not open to all Australians. The Voice is exclusive and race based, and has no place in a modern democratic, representative political system. The Voice fails to represent all Australians. The Voice will embody structural racism. The Voice will serve as structural racism. The echo chamber that has created ‘The Voice’ in its current form needs to take a long hard look at themselves; and their shameful, unjust, and discriminatory doctrine of critical race theory. And instead of pronouncing: racism, discrimination, unfairness, and bigotry upon any Australians who stand against ‘The Voice’ in its current form. They should examine the structural racism they intend to widen and inflate with the same furious incrimination.

I am consistently amazed by the lack of logic and basic economics when nationalistic and "progressive" ideologies are promoted. Ex: a coronation takes place once every so many dacades. Presidential elections take place every four years. The costs are that many times more funded by the taxpayers.....The monarch is there to provide balance to the power of the politicians. Any president is part of a political party, so where is the balance? And why not mention that the monarch should uphold the common law i.e. the rights of the people, and not the laws passed by the political parties for their own interests? And how much is the big government costs the nation ? As percentage of GDP? While the Royal Family costs each taxpayer cca £1.29 per year.......Just simple arithmatic and basic constitutional logic 😊
