Not supporting this movie... Dana Stevens and Maria Bello, both white women, are credited as the storywriters of the movie. They wanted Lupita Nyong'o to play the lead but after Lupita did her research and found out about the atrocities and savagery of the Dahomey she declined to do the movie. I'm not supporting this Hollyweird fabrication. The Dahomey would violently round up a huge number of Africans, enough to full up the hull of a European slave ship. They would then March these captured Africans to the shores. If the European slave ships were late and the food to feed the captured slaves ran low the Dahomey would do a mass slaughtering Africans on the beach. They could have let them go to be caught another day but no the Dahomey ritualistically killed them. The Dahomey would also kill thousands of people in an annual celebration honoring their king. The British wanted them to stop slaving but because the Dahomey were getting so rich off slaving our ancestors they refused and had to be stopped by a join effort of African and European nations. Hollyweird wants Black people to be proud of the very people that sold them into slavery lol. The irony lol. I have self pride and will not give the film any of my money. If I did support this film my ancestors would turn over in their graves. Let me put it this way... if you were to take a time machine back to those days in West Africa and the Dahomeys were to find you they would sell you into slavery or prepared you to be sacrificed to their king.

This movie was BEAUTIFUL! I WAS SO happy to see all that dark skin glowing, it was great, the sisterhood element was awesome. I watched the underground railroad and fell in love with the other two actresses, they're phenomenal. I want to see more of them and Ms Davis. My favorite part was when she disobeyed the king and turned around and everyone was behind her. I shouted!

I loved the majesty of it all, of course; however, the humanity of it, particularly the Black women loving, respecting and being kind to each other was it for me: despite everything in their lives the Agogee women still took time to be a balm to each other, even as simple as braiding their hair or as complex as spiritual counseling. It embodied the words of two of our greats: ~ Audre Lorde, “We have to consciously study how to be tender with each other until it becomes a habit because what was native has been stolen from us, the love of Black women for each other.” And … “If I didn’t define myself for myself, I would be crunched into other people’s fantasies for me and eaten alive.” And… “I write for those women who do not speak, for those who do not have a voice because they were so terrified, because we are taught to respect fear more than ourselves. We've been taught that silence would save us, but it won't.” And… “The master's tools will never dismantle the master's house.” And… “Black women are programmed to define ourselves within this male attention and to compete with each other for it rather than to recognize and move upon our common interests.” ~ bell hooks, “I get so tired of people acting like, you know, black men and women never help each other, never support each other.” And… “A devaluation of Black womanhood occurred as a result of the sexual exploitation of Black women during slavery that has not altered in the course of hundreds of years.” And… “In this culture, the phrase 'black woman' is not synonymous with 'tender,' or 'gentle.' It's as if those words couldn't possibly speak to the reality of black females.” This was huge too, I was glad there was no hollyweirdness to this film … as a Black woman sitting in the theatre my husband on one side of me and my son on the other, it would have been crazy uncomfortable if it displayed any hollyweirdness. LOVED THIS FILM

Google or youtube why Lupita Nyong'o (aka black panther's wife) quit her staring role in the Woman King, after she went to africa to do a documentary on the tribe she was making a movie for; after she discovered *the* truth.
