Wow! I loved going along with this video. I really enjoy how different languages work. Navajo is such a challenge but plays such an important role in American History that I hate the idea of it dying out. Also playing this video at .75 speed or whatever really helps you hear the subtle notes that are necessary to get it right! Again, I really enjoy this video.

hit the wrong button. my cousins can speak and understand Navajo very well, but i don't understand. I have been learning by just listening to others speak. I have learned more Navajo with my friend's mother. she has a lot of patience in repeating the words or sentence bk to me.I often get made fun of because I speak the Navajo language that of a white man would. Thanks for ur videos.

Thank you so much for this vid! I just started studying, and this helped me a lot with practicing reading to pronunciation. The only thing I'm having trouble grasping is the patterns - why some use "nisin" and some don't, for example. Maybe you could make a video on this?

I am wondering about pronounciation of "Ł" in Navajo. In Poland we use this letter for sund close to English W (like in Winnipeg). In Navajo it sounds like something between soundless F and H.

No, words are gender neutral in Navajo. I can tell fluent Navajo speakers who aren't too English savvy in that they will mess up all their pronouns in English, like saying, "My dad she went to his wife's house to get his keys."
@DrWhom Жыл бұрын
such mix-ups even occur between Indo-European languages: in English, you say his or her key depending on the sex of the owner of the key (and so in all Germanic languages) whereas in French it is always sa clé because the key is grammatically feminine. As a result, French people speaking English make similarly startling mistake with his and her!
