Everything shown in the Netflix series was absolutely horrible but the most disturbing for me was the negligence of some of the police. They turned a blind eye. It's what's so disappointing, and the fact that it still apparent even today. You can't really count on calling for the cops for help. They were supposed to help and protect people but they have proven time and time again, that it's even harder for people to rely onto them. I am really shaking my head in disappointment knowing about one of his victims. He could've been saved if only the responding police listens and were able to do a thorough investigation. At least one life could've been saved and prevented him to do his further murders.

I was 19 when Dahmer was caught in 1991, 20 later that same year. I spent most of my 20s in the 1990s. I can assure you that this series is accurate, especially when the officers got awards. That era was incredibly racist - even more than the 70s. Must of been the last hurrah phenomenon - things shine particularly brightly just before they burn out.

That is what killed me. You can see through the series that he did what most people ask, "Why didn't they just...?" He genuinely reached out for help, recognizing what he was thinking was wrong, let alone what he was doing. It's not like he didn't try. It goes to show what happens even when people do things correctly and it still turns out problematic. Like a horror movie where the main character does the smart thing, but still dies.

Over roughly two years, he killed or dismembered about 4 victims at his grandma's house in Milwaukee. After moving into his own apartment, he killed at least another 10 victims in about three years time. Friends and family surely reported them missing. But not a single police officer ever caught up to Dahmer for questioning on any of these cases. No investigation or follow-up or talking to witnesses around the neighborhoods and bars and nightclubs (where he targeted many of his victims) that would've eventually led detectives to Dahmer. It just goes to show that all those years, the police weren't even looking into any of these cases at all. I'm glad the Netflix series exposed the system for what it is, rather than just showing the horrors of the murders themselves.

@Aishwarya J Also I’m right because the woman who lost it in court on Dahmer has said shes annoyed by the series because it’s bringing up her trauma again. Her family member took to Twitter to express that and annoyed that they have all these docs/movies on him. So yeah stop trying to make excuses for your entertainment and making it out for some beneficial purposes because you get some guilty pleasure off watching it. All this needed was a documentary, not two dramatic movies depicting the murders. How are the families expecting to move on when it depicts them killing their relatives, news pages reporting on him. Saw one news page title “Jeffery Dahmer describes what human meat tastes like”, that’s probably someone’s relative he’s describing. You all have excuses for these shows when it’s down to your guilty pleasure and Netflix understands people love these kind of shows and they think of the cash in. “Why are you so angry?” That’s just a deflection comeback for you, no I’m just considerate unlike you and your 7 people that liked your comment.

Please note; neither Netflix NOR the filmmakers asked for consent to make the film, have the families likelihood copied, their own names and likelihood copied and absolutely no one contacted them about any compensation. Evan Peters is not a hero; he’s an egregious actor, full of Hollywood now and lots of money and has never offered to give to money to victims of abuse or sexual assault or survivors or crimes or anything. I'm kinda glad Ryan Murphy made this case a series with Evan because I didn't even know about this until the trailer came out. It's true that cinema has already covered Jeffrey Dahmer's story before but this series is important because it talks of the victims as real people with ordinary lives and so much potential, more than that how the system practically enabled him to get that far with his horrific acts which has almost always been left out. Disturbing as it is, Dahmer is an interesting person to study.

Yeah, they should have an award for making a serial killer shine like he's some kind of icon, and focusing in his life instead of their victims, just like he probably would have wanted. Yeah, they should have an award for doing all of this for the sake of money without caring about the opinions of the families of the victims, and just disregarding them like they don't deserve anything even tough they're putting someone that was so precious in the screen and even them, in their worst moments. Yeah. It isn't like they just don't care about what happened and are trying to monetize history, even making changes to make it more dramatic and "cool", for the audiences...

Like this lady got 32 hours of audio of Dahmer in his own words, and it's fascinating to hear him talk about how he came to be what he was... or at least what he thought. I think the Dahmer series explains fairly why he might’ve turned out the way he did. Unfortunately we’ll never know the real issues or reason, since his brain was never studied. There are only theories. ETA: let me rephrase “explain” with “visualize” since the reasons were never proven. Just the show giving us an idea.

The two cops trying to justify them given the kid back to Jeffrey Dahmer is unexcusable and then to think they got suspended just to have it overturned and let them come back on they should have been fired and prosecuted you had the witness of two daughters and a mother that even called up afterwards to check up and see what was going on and try to continuously let him know that that was a child that that was not a grown adult but the police decided to be negligent and ignore it because hey it's the hood who cares he's white in a bad neighborhood let's give him the benefit of the doubt

Dahmer is infinitely fascinating. Watched and read a lot of him. Currently watching the Dahmer drama series, which is great. He's really unique in that he actually confessed to his crimes in detail when he was caught, and actually expressed remorse for what he did. Can't help but feel sorry for him as well as the victims, i fully believe that if someone got him some help when he was a teenager he wouldn't have become a serial killer. His father tried but he didn't realize the full extent of Dahmer's problems. Ted Bundy was evil, Dahmer was sick. Just an incredibly interesting and tragic piece of history all around.

Nothing can justify his terrible deeds. This is a monster, what kind of sympathy can the relatives of the dead have? Jeffrey Dahmer deserved the death penalty in the electric chair, like Ted Bundy, there can be no leniency. Well, even though he was killed in prison, this is the most appropriate punishment for him.

@@oscarhilton6032 Who ever said anything about justifying anything? The point is if he got help early, he probably wouldn't have become a killer. Thats why he and his father did so many interviews. To tell other parents what to watch out for. Also, Dahmer himself said he wanted to be executed. He didn't even fight back when the guy killed him in prison. This isn't Ted Bundy, who was terrified of being executed and tried everything possible to delay it.
