These first hand accounts of the persecution of Jews by the Nazis are deeply moving, so many Americans nowadays have no inkling to the sacrifices and bravery of the Resistance and their families the bonds between these families and those they protected have been passed down through generations within their families=Love surpasses Hate !! Your Father's emotional testimonials brought tears to my eyes Thank You Alan for sharing your family history !!

my admiration and gratitude to all the "righteous" who took huge risks to help people in need. Indeed, we are all plagued with the question: "what would I do in a similar situation?" let's hope we never have to find out. Well done, Alan.

Thank you for your parents' stories and those of the selfless & brave people who saved them. I cannot imagine, and hope never to know, what it must have been like for any of them. My direct family had already emigrated in the 1890s, but they lost most of their family members still in Poland at that time.

Alan, thank you very much for sharing some of details of your family’s history that occurred during the horrific events of WW2. The events of that war showed some of the worst aspects of humanity and also demonstrated some of good and selfish things that humans can do to help each other. I am familiar with some of the details of the Locher family as it was told me by my mother and other family members. My mother is one of the daughters of the DeBoer family that you refer to in your story that hid your grandfather in The Netherlands.

Thank you Alan for sharing this I teared up several times watching this b.c I understood and empathized with many of the norms of life mentioned here. My biggest one was my ex's godson is also Jewish and he has three siblings...the godson is one of the most incredibly special people I ever met and I am ecstatic (as an black male of the LGBT sphere) to be able to better understand the history of the Jewish people...things like this help keep me and hopefully others grounded and humble. Being that how important my family/friends are so important to me and how they help me be happy and being a better person...this interview was touching in a myriad of ways. Thanks again for sharing this sir...enjoy your weekend Alan.

I like to think that I would be part of the Resistance. But unless something happens, you'd never know for sure. I pray nothing happens to put me to the test.

So true. None of us know until that moment hits, but let us pray it never happens again. Thanks for watching, Jane.
