His very language is the give away. No one that is a conservative Christian uses all of the liberal catchphrases that this man throws out. The 80% that left his church were fortunate that they finally realized what he had been saying all along

It is a comfort that this type of pastor is being identified and called out now. These pastors ran rampant for a couple decades in evangelicalism without much of a check. They were quick to defend women and throw men under the bus. They criticized doctrine and made emotions central to religion. They trashed the historical church to try to gain favor with those who wanted nothing of the true God.

Wheaton College went woke decades ago. In 1984, 18 Wheaton professors signed an open letter, which they distributed to the student body, supporting the Mondale/Ferraro ticket in that year's election. Wheaton somehow maintains its "evangelical" reputation because Billy Graham and Elisabeth Elliot went there, although that was back in the days when the St. Louis Browns still existed.
@ruthmayforth5933Ай бұрын
Not sure if you are aware, but Billy Graham claimed to be a democrat.
@conceptualclarityАй бұрын
@@orbyfan I think the fact that the Religious Right arose in the late 20th century and we had prominent leaders like D James Kennedy, Pat Robertson, James Dobson, Jerry Falwell, and Bill Bright served to mask the fact that behind the scenes the evangelical intelligentsia was thoroughly under the control of left-leaning people. What happened was that generation of conservative leaders died out in the 21st century and leaders who were the ideological offspring of the left-wing evangelical intelligentsia came to the forefront in the YRR and the SBC and many other places.

Thank you for the great commentary. It's heartening to hear someone who fully understands the social justice warriors and how dangerous they are. May your tribe increase. But please be very careful when lumping therapists into the purple-haired freakshow camp. I'm a rarity, to say the least. I went back to grad school when I was 48, for a second master's degree, 24 years after the first. Seeing how education has become mere indoctrination was crushing. I challenged my professors who pushed CRT and other horrible ideologies---at a so-called Christian university. Was nearly kicked out simply for politely expressing another perspective. I kid you not. After graduating (thank God), I have worked as a decidedly "non-woke" LPC. Believe me when I say there is a place for healthy therapy, from someone who, while not a "Christian therapist," uses biblical principles daily with people who would rather choke than visit a church. We therapists are not all insane or broken. Some of us truly help people and find ways to show TRUTH covertly--- because that's the only way many unbelievers will hear it. They would never, ever see a "Christian counselor" (who, though often wonderful, have their issues as well). Being a Christian who is a counselor is a way to minister in pretty amazing ways. Again, please don't lump all therapists as useless and odd.
@anitasmith203Ай бұрын

I don't hear much love for those neighbours coming from him in this speech. He's a leader in the social gospelly Surge Network in Phoenix, and has done interviews (which you can find on KZbin) with the notorious Curtis Chang and Julie Roys. He also has "An Honest Conversation on Christian Nationalism;" whenever you see that title, you can bet that it will be anything but honest.

Easy for this guy to talk badly about covid. Yet he lived in Phoenix that was very open. We live in Phoenix. The cowardly churches that stayed closed showed their cards and lost people. The brave guys stood out and attracted many. Maybe he’s bitter. We moved to Driscoll’s church, as did many others at that time. I know he gets a bad wrap, but his church was really a lighthouse to much of the valley at that time.

That pastor's symptoms could more likely been caused by mRNA jabs. But no, that cause is never considered. As far as politics goes, the Christian must look at the policies and agendas pushed, not the personality of the candidate and therefore Trump is our best choice for upholding our Christian ethos, whereas the other choice is the pushing of culture of death.
