I am so thirsty to learn more and more, and with each podcast I listen to, I watch how my hunger for God's things grows. I'm really happy because everything you say makes sense to me, and I feel like I'm maturing lot faster than ever before. I felt led by God at the beginning of the year to advance from the basics to maturity, but I didn't know how, and when I was listening to John, in the wilderness course, speaking from 1 Peter 4:1, He who suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin, and that implies He has reached maturity. I realised what I needed to do. I began praying, asking God to transform my desires and to instill in me a hunger for Him and His Kingdom, and I am so glad and amazed to realise that God does indeed give me power over the body, and I no longer have an appetite for certain things that used to overpower me. Thank you very much, John and Lisa, for your podcasts, courses, and books; they are treasures that fill my spirit.❤

The most wonderful thing is happening to my wife and me. We've come a long way (44 years of amazing marriage while clinging to Jesus; 60 years of chronic, hemiplegic migraines; CPTSD; unemployment; family and church splits, etc.) and now we can both honestly stand here and say that the Word of God is so much "fun." We love "doing" it, and truly experiencing God backing it up. His faithfulness is so amazing. Applied Christianity is so real. Thank you, Beveres, for your books and teachings. My wife and I are both being delivered from "offense' and it is such a huge deliverance for us. Life with Jesus really does bring times of refreshing (Acts 3:19) if we'll simply memorize and "do" His Word. God bless you and your family. Romans 8:28; Ephesians 5:20; 2 Corinthians 10:4-5; 2 Corinthians 12:10

This helped with a personal revelation, God was trying to break through. I was spiritually starving, because of treating The Lord like my earthly father. An angry man, with addiction issues. So I learned to disappear and not be noticed. Because being noticed could lead to domestic violence, as my mother stepped in to protect me. It broke my heart to see her broken. So when it came to my prayers with God, I was trying not to trigger God. I don't look forward to His word, because it means coming into his presence. Where my neurological pathway built a stronghold of survival, to avoid a father's authority like that. Which brought me into His presence with the wrong kind of fear. So God kept His distance. Hence the starvation. He wanted to feed me, but my blindness could only feed the enemy's seed instead. So this message helped God break through, so we can get closer the way he intended. Thank you.

I know how you feel, i went through some of the same things you mentioned. Man, you don't know how God is absolutely, extraordinarily, GOOD! And as we grow in intimacy with Him, and in the revelation of who He is, the fascination and awe and wonder that we experience is inexplicable!! And that's only the beginning!!!

@@DiogoReisBello He IS good. Since writing this, God gave me a vision. I was walking to my laundry to empty the machine, and the universe suddenly opened up in-front of me. My consciousness was occupying the space between the stars - and that was a lot of space to occupy! God gave me a glimpse of who he was as my heavenly father. That's a big difference between me avoiding the projection of my earthly father, on God - to God revealing his limitlessness to me. That was the most amazing vision I've ever experienced.

7:23 Maintaining spiritual hunger: 1. You need connection with Him. Instead of just reading the Bible as any other book, try interacting with the Holy Spirit when you read. 10:24 - Talking with God as I am reading. - Before reading, pray "Holy Spirit, please reveal Jesus to me in a way like I've never known before. Open my eyes and make the Word alive in my life." - Never stop to wander, ponder, and have excitement to read the Bible. - Find someone to study, read, and then discuss the Bible with. - Imagine you are reading with the author and allow the Holy Spirit to explain things to you. - If you just read you get information, but not TRANSFORMATION. - Ask God to reveal and expose to you the things that are keeping you from a desire to read the Word of God (Entertainment, social media, unnecessary drama, not having an atmosphere that has sacred space, etc) 2. The less I read the Bible, the less I want to read the Bible. The less you feed your spirit, the quieter it becomes.

I was in where I tolerated a lot of screen time distractions in my life. Although I was reading my Bible, a contrary voice to God's Word was now loud in my ear, which questioned and opposed all I knew to be true about God. But God used this to call me to a deeper place with Him, which called for discipline in what I watch and listen to. I'm learning that Jesus is Lord, and this means I must put away things He dislikes.

This was a blessing! I was hit particularly hard by the statement one of you said along the lines of "When we are uncomfortable about something, we tend to turn to entertainment, instead of going to God with it." I hadn't directly realized I was doing that, but it explains a lot. My church has been fasting from something (different for each person) over the past three weeks, and I chose to fast from playing games on my phone, computer, and any other type of video game. But then after several days, I realized I was now watching movies instead, so I decided to stop that, too (for the most part). It has been a blessing, in a general sense. But last night I went to an extra prayer meeting that my church was having during this fasting period, and it really made this principal you talked about in this video come clear to me. I started praying in the prayer meeting, and I found that I had a lot of turmoil (or something like that - I don't know the exact right word to use), and it was a raw prayer time. I leaned into it, mostly praying in tongues, and not shying away from the hard things I was feeling. I just kept bringing them to God, being very honest about what I was feeling, even when I knew I was most likely in the wrong. And after maybe 45 minutes or more of that, something started to shift. Someone else was praying at the front about something unrelated to what I was praying about privately, and I could tell that the Holy Spirit was anointing what he was saying, so I came into agreement with him. Then my spirit started getting really engaged, and joy started coming. Then we each prayed for someone else, and when another guy started praying for me, the power of the Holy Spirit was flowing through me, and more joy came. I went back to my seat and kept praying, and it just kept getting better and better. By the time I left that night, I was continuously laughing and everything was hilarious. I laughed all the way to my car and started singing songs of praise as I was driving away. What was the point of that long story? It was that I went to God instead of to entertainment, and I kept leaning into Him, even in pain and disquiet, and eventually breakthrough came. And it was very clear to me that the shift inside of me came entirely from Him and wasn't my own doing in any way. But I didn't have that articulation about what had happened until I watched this video tonight. So thank you again for this discussion and for articulating that principle so clearly!

Recently I was in that space where I did not have appetite to read the word of God and reading the bible felt like I was just reading a novel and I did not know what was going on. I thank God for his love because I told him how I felt about it and now things are getting better. Like what you said , I recently discovered that I had lost the appetite because I was prioritizing other things and that is why I was no longer excited to read the word. The moment I started being intentional and praying before reading the word, the appetite an excitement came back.Thank you so much for sharing this topic , it really helped me a lot.

Thank you for those nuggets of wisdom…the more you read scripture, the more you want to read it. You’ve also said on another podcast, to first ask God to give you a fresh baptism of the Holy Spirit then to ask the Holy Spirit to reveal Jesus in a way like you’ve never seen before. I still do that and it helps so much! Some of us don’t know what to ask🤷🏻♀️Thank you! And thank you Lisa for asking John ‘how’ do you do this or that. Many people will tell you ‘what’ to do but not many will tell you ‘HOW’🤷🏻♀️

In French there is a saying that "l'appétit vient en mangeant " which means appétit comes while eating. Sometimes we don't want to eat but when we start eating, the more we like it the more we desire. & the same way we have to eat for our physical survival, we have to for our spiritual life too. If a child doesn't want to eat you will make the child eat because we understand that our body needs nutrition. Our souls need to be nurished even when we don't feel like feeding on the Word. The enemy wants to keep us away from our Spiritual food cause he knows that's where we draw our strength. Have you ever gotten just a little bit of food and went for seconds? My point is sometimes we need to feed on the Word no matter how we feel or our appetite. The more we feed on His Word, our soul is blessed and it makes us then hunger for more. I hope that makes sense.

Nothing happens by luck! The Lord led me to you to hear what He has to say to me through you! I’d been fooling myself in believing that I was close to Him and walking in humility, I was wrong! There were several verses that He brought me to, to show me, well-me! “hearing you will hear and shall not understand; and seeing you will see and not perceive. For the hearts of this people have grown dull….”lest they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, lest they should understand with their hearts and turn, so that I should heal them.” Matt. 13:14, 15. I kept getting this scripture and other scriptures similar to this that it caused me to question myself relationship with the Lord. Then I began to understand that He is revealing what inside of me and cleansing me of impurities while still being merciful and faithful. Then the Lord led me to you guys to teach me how to genuinely walk with the Lord. It’s a challenge but I keep remembering when the Lord will call me by my name. That’s awesome and rewarding! Thank you

Hunger vs. excitement 🤔😇 When I'm hungry, I'm at least looking forward to eating. I can even be excited at the anticipation of a good meal. I know I will be satisfied and have contentment with being full. This comes from wholesome, nutrious food. Cheap, empty calorie foods are fun while eating yet don't fully satisfy 😢. Reading God's word is a discipline for sure, and it is an opportunity to grow in close relationship with Him. This episode gave me clarity about doing something on purpose for a purpose ❤❤❤❤❤

In 1990s I lost my appetite because I have disabilities and the drugs I was on ended my apptite, and because the doctors were giving me the wrong dose, I lost my appetite but I also was suffering from an injury from medication that disabled me in the first place years previously. I have lived without an appetite. My appetite has not been restored and I have had to eat when I am not hungry, but constantly full. And its like when you sit among Christians or people that want to fill you, but you have a full plate. They don't understand you are full, its like trying to make people eat, when they are full. God gifted me with something else. People have not understood the something else. I was gifted with a spiritual thirst and I was so thirsty for God, He filled me with His life giving water. He also gave to me to go out and water the fields, go and water and bring forth Life giving water. And because the church did not understand that, I was abused beyond measure. And also its hard to live without an appetite, but also not having an appetite served another purpose, it ended dysfunction in eating. It ended dysfunction in cravings. It ended addictions and the list goes on. It also helped people lose weight. The biggest mistake people make at this time, is being presumptive. And also abusing people. The spiritual can not be trusted at this time, because the truth is, it is being made in the image and likeness of man, not God, which means idolatry. Its still the spirit of truth and spirit of error in operation.

Iam currently spending time with God and His word in the mornings and it's been like a conversation (after a previous dry spell) but I was not aware of the reason why I had this intimacy now it was God's graciousness to me alone rather than something I was intentional and aware of. I know if I lost that intimacy with God I would not know how to get back to that place but now I do thanks to your reiterating that I need to ask God to show me revelation through His word for me. And it was in fact very timely because this morning I did need to ask it wasn't just given to me. Thank you so much for doing these videos and helping others and myself be and stay close to God. 😊❤
