I think converse of HT can be proved by taking angle opposite of hypoteneous to be acute angle first and obtuse angle next and then prove that equality a^2+b^2=c^2 is possible when the angle is a right angle...

@@krishanm259 You're a lucky student. In my day we got given the formula, a 2 minute explanation, then told to complete 10 questions from the textbook. After that we had homework. The next day we marked the homework, if I got 3/10, there was no further teaching done - just moving onto the next topic. Lots of kids left behind by that model of teaching.

@scorpioal134 жыл бұрын
If AB^2+BC^2=AC^2, then AC^2=AB^2 +BC^2. The proof is the same whichever way it is solved.

This isn’t a real proof. All you showed in the video was that 5^2+12^2=13^2. You did not generalize it for all numbers, and you did not prove that there is for-sure a right angle there. You just assumed it at the end. The converse of Pythagoras’s Theorem can be proven, but this is not the way to do so.
@sambony945 жыл бұрын
Maybe that'll be done in the second part?
@GoldenSandslash155 жыл бұрын
It wasn't. The way you prove it is with the law of cosines, something that is a bit more advanced than this class currently seems to be working with, if they are just now learning Pythagoras for the first time.
@hamargabi2 жыл бұрын
@@GoldenSandslash15 it can be proved easily indirect.
@911Salvage2 жыл бұрын
AFAIK, this is 8th grade mathematics. You don't learn formal proofs until the 10th grade.

@@GoldenSandslash15 yes, you are right this is not actual proof to converse of Pythagoras theorem
