CURIOSITY QUESTION: * Why didn't you use a "green screen" under the stool? * Wouldn't that have eliminated a lot of "background noise" and made it easier for the camera and easier to edit later? Just "thinking out loud!" : ) Amen Retired, Veteran

Nice video - I wonder if you could have gotten a much better result by having the stool in a more contrasting environment (e.g creating a white cube around the stool, open at the top and side, and using some string/wire to suspend the tool in the cube). Probably the white cube would also need some small patterns to help the software understand the camera angle? (e.g a different coloured stripe on each side). The end result currently is good except the base of the stool isn't very cleanly distinct from the ground.

How long did it take to complete this 3d modeling from taking the photos to cleaning up the shots in Meshroom?

It took about 3 hours.

One thing you can do to make it better is to use a string to make sure your camera is equal distance away from the item as you circle it.

I think the program needs the lighting contrast to determine the direction the camera is coming from. Seems counter-intuitive, but I would imagine it needs some shadows.

maybe because this is absurdly easy to use and setup, and costs no money unlike a 3d scanner. Plus, you can use this to scan and create large outdoor spaces using a drone, whereas with a 3d scanner you cant

Anyone know why I can’t import images into mesh room? I keep getting an error “ you probably have corrupted images “ even know I know the photos are fine I’ve tried everything I can find on the web from reinstalling my visual c++ 2015 - 2022 to changing photo formats and locations Any suggestions would me much appreciated

I had that problem too and I realised that my images were screenshots, when I tried with normal images, it worked
