Thanks for doing all this research - especially the percentage to print the page. Using the transparency paper is an awesome idea. I've thought of doing something similar but with paper and I didn't think the glue would work well with it. Aleene's tack it over and over does work really well as a glue. This method would work really well with pattern keeper too since you can use it to find the matching DMC to the symbol and save time in looking for the drill bottle (I skipped to certain parts of your video just in case you already said that). I'll be sure to try out your method next year and to point your video out to anyone who wants your very thorough explanation.

Hey Joan! You are my HAED goddess! Good to hear from you! No, I did not talk about using Pattern Keeper that way... But, you're right that could help with ensuring you get all the symbols when you have those straggler ones off by themselves that it's easy to miss sometimes. Great thought! Glad to hear you are interested in using this process. If you do, I'd love to get your feedback on it. I am truly honored, my friend! Have a great Turkey day! 🦃 ❤ 🦃

Bravo for doing such a well-informed tutorial on your new method. I give you my word that I will not post anything about this until after February 1, 2023. @@DPbyDoni So glad it's got you excited to test things out! Cool! Oh yes! I was getting very excited to be able to FINALLY show everyone how to do HAEDS a lot easier than using a blank canvas. I did a LOT of research on KZbin to watch every creator I could find that had started a HAED. You wouldn't believe how many NEVER complete one that they've started. A LOT of people take on these projects and get disenchanted with them and just stop working on them or they have problems with popping drills or problems with their canvas, etc... I looked at at least 30+ creators that had started them and then I looked at all their later videos to see where they had updated on their progress. And, I could count on one hand how many actually showed their completed projects. That's why I contacted you in March. I saw that you had done a lot of videos on your HAED project and you stated you were putting it on hold for Christmas that year. But, I didn't see in your later videos that you ever started working on it again. So, I was really wanting to know if the paper method you were using was successful or not and whether you ever finished it. I think a lot of people buy them not understanding the true size they are buying and how much time it actually takes to convert them using a blank canvas. There's been a lot of people that have bought the supersized ones in max color even and all the canvases and drills and never completed them. That's at least a $300 investment minimum, I think. I hate to see that. That's why in my part 1 of the series I tried to spend a lot of time on the HAED website and getting people to really understand what their options are. And, yes, I knew I needed to wait to make sure that the method looked effective. I surely did not want a lot of people to follow me down the rabbit hole to only later find out that the drills fell off or the plastic disintegrated or something awful like that. It's been hard not to tell people about it. The REALLY funny part was when I did the Mini Off to See the Wizard for Shay's OZinAug event on KZbin using my new method... I mentioned that I was doing it as a HAED conversion to a diamond painting. But, when posting my progress pics, I kept putting my completed pages on top of a blank canvas with washi tape around the edges, so you couldn't tell what materials I was actually using to do the diamond painting. It was 72cmx57cm and I finished it in 22 days. I got a lot of likes on it. But, I was really surprised that NO ONE asked me how I did a HAED that quick. So, that was REALLY funny to me. Here's a couple of links to it, if you're interested in seeing it: instagram.com/p/ChKoCqWrsm6/ instagram.com/p/Chi25FoLsjS/ The only person that I told in advance of the video series coming out what my new method was, was Lisette with Lisette Crafts and Tells. She and I have become pretty good friends over the last couple of years. I showed it to her a week or so before I launched my KZbin channel. So, glad the idea has inspired you! So much fun to see others get excited over it, like I am! I'll be VERY interested to see what you come up with! And, I REALLY want to see you finish your Fairy Bubbles HAED and see you pick back up with your "Epic HAED Chronicles"... 🙃 You are a true lion-ess! ! ! 🦁🦁🦁🦁🦁

Hey Lisa! Yea... It "feels" like a lot of steps because when I am trying to show it, I try to think of everything people could possibly ask so that I don't get a gazillion questions on the process. But, once you do it, it's not that much actually. I find it really fun to do actually. I LOVE when I finish a page and get to connect it to my other finished pages. It's like getting a little reward every time! Try it and you will see! Since you have used the traditional conversion to a blank canvas. I will be VERY INTERESTED in your feedback after you've had a chance to try it. Be sure to let me know your thoughts afterward. Have a great rest of your week! 💕

Thank you, thank you, thank you! We are novices but we are going for it...🦁My teenage daughter has to pick an art project for a school benefit auction and she decided on diamond art painting. I've watched a LOT of videos in a 2-day window and I am so grateful to have found you and Diamonds and Washi. We are converting an image to cross stitch and then using your "new" method to tackle this project. We could use a poured blank grid canvas and I know my daughter would be able to manage it using pattern software. She's experienced with cross stitch and has completed some basic small diamond art projects. But I kept thinking there had to be a way to print our own "canvas" and was thinking large format at the office store with some poured glue but couldn't figure how that would work on paper. You are a genius! Thank you for testing this multiple times, working out some bugs in the process, explaining with so much detail and sharing your knowledge and ideas. This is great. I'm looking forward to #4 to see how you put the individual pages all together. 🦁🦁🦁🦁🦁🦁🦁

Hey Lisette! Good to hear from you, my friend! I have been SOO busy with developing content for my own channel, I haven't been able to keep up with my favorite KZbin creator recently! Yes, I think being able to make the grid size match the drills is a big deal too. Glad to hear you think the same. I think that was a BIG issue when Katie with Diamonds and Washi had to abort her last HAED project, which was sad. I hate to see people spending so much money on these projects and not be successful with them because of that kind of reason. But, it looks like Katie's having a lot better success with her new HAED project, which is good. But, MAN that is a BIG design she picked to do. 8 canvases for it! Whew! She is braver than I am! I almost emailed you to get your opinion about the thing I put in about other creators copying my new method. It was very uncomfortable for me to talk about. But, I knew if I didn't say "something" about it, I would be really dis-heartened otherwise, when it would have happened. I feel better knowing that I at least got that feeling out there. But, I wish we had another way to talk to other creators so we don't have to do that in front of our viewers too... It's a very awkward thing. Feels like "in-fighting" or something. And, I DO NOT want any part of the drama between creators that I hear about. I'm having fun with the channel. But, the EDITING is a REAL pain, isn't it? Ugggghhh! Anyway... Thanks for checking in on me, my friend! Big Hug Right Back At You, from Indiana! 🤗🤗🤗

@@DiamondPaintingBetweentheLines Hi Tammy, I totally get that you find it difficult to address, but I really don't think you need to worry about it too much. The thing with putting things out there in the world is that it's going to get copied. That's life. I think just asking creators to credit you for inventing/showing the method suffices. There are so many steps involved and you explain it so well and detailed. They can just show their project and say - if you want to know how it's done - check out Tammy's video. Also I think this really is a 'niche' kind of project, because you're not converting on a blank canvas - you're creating a diamond painting from a pattern, before you start working on it - it's a DIY Diamond Painting from a cross stitch pattern. The way you work on it is still the same as 'normal' diamond painting. That's why it's possible to finish quicker this way than when you do an actual conversion. With a conversion you really need to count (even when you use the app)- it's a completely different feel and way more time consuming. I personally like that challenge, but I realize that it can be a bit daunting for some. This is a great alternative, because you still get to work on a 'unique' HAED cross stitch pattern and will be able to finish the project in a 'normal' time frame. Just create videos with info you like to share and don't think about what other creators are doing. Just do your own thing and you'll be fine. Big hug for you.

I admire that you can do that! I just like diamond painting to be a bit "mindless" I guess. That's what relaxes me about it. But, I get that for some the counting is fun too! To each his own, right? And, I am sure they would have copied it innocently, without understanding how that might make me feel not knowing that I am counting on that "new method" to really help build my channel. So, I said it in spite of it being really uncomfortable. I will be TRULY flattered, if this new method is usable by a lot of people. And, after I've had a couple of months to be "the first" to show it, I will be totally okay and flattered with other creators using it on their channels. I have found it so fun doing the pages and connecting them together and then getting to step back and say "wow" page after page. I hope others find it fun, too! I love my LaserJet printer too! Did you find it funny with me showing how BIG the cartridges are? @Denise SW Hey Denise! Yay! That's the kind of comments, I REALLY was looking forward to hearing! 😁 So glad you got to test some things and had great success! I found it so fun to make my own diamond painting canvas. Glad you snagged some HAEDs while they were on sale. Such a reasonable cost for the artwork, don't you think? I picked up 4 HAED designs yesterday for $23, myself. And, I love that I have diamond paintings I know I can do anytime I want and I don't have to store the canvas or drills until I am ready to purchase them. It's like you're paying a little to "reserve the right" to do the diamond painting anytime you want. And, if you don't ever actually do the diamond painting for a design you purchased for some reason, you're not out $60-$80 each. You're only out the cost of the design, which is usually about $6 for a mini when they are on sale. So, that's not much. I hate being pressured to purchase a diamond painting kit because it's a limited edition for fear that I'll never be able to buy the diamond painting again. For all these reasons, that's why I REALLY like HAED designs. Please keep me up to date on your progress. I'm excited to hear when you finally start putting some drills down what you think! Absolute genius!!! This process is a game changer. I think after working with quite a few large canvases, the struggle of trying to fit it on my desk, and to get to middle portion, even when it is rolled up I'm always fearing knocking over my light or my drills or even knocking against my screen etc..ughhh. Comparing this issue to the most simplest form of multiple A4 pieces would be so much easier tackling large images/canvases. And until the whole canvas is complete, it would be so much easier to keep the WIP stashed up in a folder, or a box. Sooo when I have in enough spare drills I'm definitely going to try this method, with a HAED design.

So much quicker and easier to work with one page at a time. I get a big kick out of completing a page and getting to put it next to my other completed pages to see the DP come to life. And, yes, it's nice not to have a diamond painting having to set out forever. I just stack the pages up and keep them in a drawer until I start putting them together. And, NICE not to have to work upside down or sideways too when you have 90+ symbols to work with. Keep watching the series, I have some more ideas to show you... If you try to doing an HAED with the new method, please be sure to let me know how it goes! 💞

@@DiamondPaintingBetweentheLines no problem I will. First, I am trying to push through a custom I had made of my granddaughter's birth. I'm hoping to learn enough of this method to be able to make my own customs from family photos, they messed up the baby's skin tone and put bright orange dotted throughout. To only have to source diamonds would be a better method and being able to adjust canvas with the diamonds is epic, let alone not dealing with a big canvas while painting.

Knowing that you do parts separately got me wondering if I could apply this to a large canvas... to cut the unstarted printed canvas into quarters before drilling. I know i wouldn't have the margins you have in this case but it makes me wonder how that would look. Most of my canvases are huge and I've developed lots of strategies to make it more managable but it would be so handy to work on smaller parts. I think it would sacrifice the overall quality in the end, trying to reattach in the back. Anyway your technique is very innovative. When I attempt a conversion, I will definitely try this. This gets past the unprinted canvas which has been my stumbling block Thanks for sharing and I look forward to the next video in the series.

Hi Tammy. Thanks for sharing such a unique idea. This video was very thorough and had a combined instructional and WIP and chat vibe. I’d love to watch a heavily edited version that was about 20 mins that walks through the high level process steps once without repeating/re-enforcing the same messages. I could then replay sections if I need a reminder. I skipped through loads of this because 2.5 hours is too long for me. The idea is fantastic and a shorter version may have an improved retention rate and help it spread to more viewers. 🦁

Eureka! (Sorry... Couldn't help myself but to say it that way.... But, I bet you get that a lot... 🙃) Good point. The reason I go into so much detail with it is to help head off what could be an endless list of questions... I have done a lot of training on software over the years and I find it helps "reinforce" concepts to be a bit repetitive. And, a lot of people that watch my videos are older and as we all know, as we age, we take more time to absorb new concepts oftentimes. I am just trying to make sure the info is accessible to everyone that might be interested in it. I think though, your idea is really good though... Now, that I have done the full training.... In the next video I might do a quick "synopsis" of the last video and put a comment at the end of the synopsis to watch part 3 for more details. I do believe that a lot of people like longer videos though because they are watching them while they are diamond painting. That's what I do, at least. Thanks for the feedback, Eureka! (I just can't say Eureka! without an exclamation point at the end...) 😆

Connecting the pages together is the REAL fun, at least it was for me! If there's a piece of artwork on the HAED website that you have fallen in love with and they don't have a Crown Jewel Canvas option for it, this can be one of your options for being able to diamond paint the design still! 👼💙🦁 so many great pointers! I’m doing something similar, but different-I think your method is a little closer to what my initial goal had been (but couldn’t find sticky pouches that seem to be available in Europe…) I’m excited to see some of your future details on connection, etc as I’m at a loss about how to actually do it. I am also encouraged by your rounds that you had mentioned from video 1 (if I remember correctly) and even for colour backgrounds for personal designs someday. You have reignited a confidence in me and I am grateful for your tips and tricks! Your confidence suggests I was definitely right to think this can be a long term, multiple diamond painting plan, and all 8 of the charts I recently bought from HAED are likely to actually be completed! Thank you! 🦁

HI Anneka! Connecting the pages together is really the easiest part, in my opinion. I like connecting the pages and being able to step and see the image finally come all together. So cool! So glad that you are excited about trying this new method out! Yes, there will be a video later where I will show how you can do one in rounds, in color using your own custom images even. Fun stuff! Glad to see that you are lion-ess! 🦁🦁🦁🦁

Questions two if I’m doing it by pages like you how do I glue them together to get my painting. Hope you help me I’d really like to try this 🦁

OH MY GOSH!!!!! Honestly I thought you were going to have your own canvas printed! But this is SO MUCH BETTER!!!!! I want to be one of the first to try this for you to give you my “review” but this sounds incredible!!! I’ve heard of people using graph paper but I worry about the paper ripping too easily. Especially with 4 kids running around my house 😹😹😹😹 also, I forgot to tell you in your last video, but I LOVED listening to your kitty Lucy talking to you. It was funny because my cat Tippy was walking on my canvas the same time Lucy was meowing at you 😹 P.S. have you thought about trying the ‘clear coat’ spray paint on the sheets to give the poured glue something to hold on to rather than the double sided adhesive? Just curious on your thoughts. I have Ailene’s in my basement from other craft projects and the clear coat. So I may order the plastic sheets and see how that works. I can’t wait to try your process!!!! I’m excited about this! Thank you so much for doing this serious. I’m a 🦁 hear me ROAR 😹😹😹😹😹😹

Hey C&D! Glad you liked the new method! I was really curious what you would think! Oh yes... PLEASE be one of the first to try this out. I would LOVE that! Lucy talks to me all the time. All I have to do is say her name or look at her and she meows every time! She's so spoiled! Here's a pic of her on instagram: instagram.com/p/CjaV2bLrjnH/ When I am diamond painting, she meows at me to pull out a chair so she can sit beside me while I'm diamond painting. Oh my! Funny that Tippy was interacting with you at the same time. Funny story... I was watching Lisette (Lisette Crafts and Tells) a few weeks ago and she has two new kittens and they were ALL over her while she was diamond painting. Her kitty, James, is a bit naughty! He knocked off her drill container one day! When they are meowing while I'm watching her videos, my cat, Lucy, walks up to the speaker thinking a kitten is trapped inside it. She would be such a good mommy cat, if she wasn't spade, that is. I love cats! 4 kids! Wow! It's amazing you can find ANY time to diamond paint! 😄 I have one son, but he's 25 now and lives on his own. So, my house is pretty quiet now, and diamond painting helps fill that gap for me. That empty nest thing is REALl! When my son moved out, it was like someone died or something for me... I hated it for the first couple of weeks, especially. 😂 I was just so used to seeing him every day. It was hard not knowing everything going on with him from day to day. But, he's a HIGH functioning, well adjusted adult, that comes to visit us often. So, I am thankful for that too! The 'clear coat' spray paint idea just might work. Good thought there! I might give that a try and experiment with that a bit too. I have some clear coat on hand. If the Aleene's would stick to it, that would really help take out some cost, possibly. If you try it first, you'll have to let me know your results too. Good thought there! Oh, you are not just a 🦁, you ARE a 🦁-ess, my friend! Have a great rest of your week, 🦁-ess! 💜💜💜

@@T1Diamondbetic My baby, Lucy, just turned 11 this month. I love the name "Gizmo"! Too cute! Is he called that because of Furbies? It's funny how cats love to be with us, isn't it? It's so sweet. My Lucy thinks every door is a way to outside and she has to explore them all. A few days ago, I took her through the entire kitchen area and opened up all the doors and drawers and lifted her up to look into all the cabinets. She was purring like crazy. 🐱 She loves to look at EVERY little thing. Cats are such curious creatures. You're lucky that Gizmo wants to cuddle with you close. Lucy will only tolerate being held for a minute or two at a time, but she loves to sleep between our two pillows in bed and that's when I get my REAL snuggle time with her. Oh my! 18 months to 16. You are going through the entire school system time period, twice! 😂 Heaven help you, my child! Once was enough for me! That Spangler DP is so cute! I have only done one Spangler so far, which was Bubble Fairies. The draglings are fun to diamond paint with their scales. And, the unicorn one is really sweet too! Oh my! I didn't reach diamond member level until earlier this year! Your addiction is strong, my friend! But, I do have a pretty good stash going. I did the math on it one day and I think I have a 3 year supply now! Yikes! But, it's really my addiction to Simply Gilded now that is making me feel a bit guilty! But, the washi is too cute! I cannot resist it sometimes! And, I just received that 60+ mystery box of washi! I won't tell him, I promise! As long as you promise the same for me! But, I think eventually my videos will betray my stash. My husband has been watching my videos some! Yikes! I hope he doesn't catch on to me... 😵 Too be honest though, he's very cool about it all... He has hobbies too. So, we're even, "basically"... Oh yea... Black Friday could be the death of me. We'll have to be strong and resist from buying them ALL at least, right? Can't wait to hear your test results on the clear coat! That will be very interesting. Happy Turkey Day! 🦃🦃🦃

Tammy I really like this method as it looks easier, but I haven’t tried my first HAED conversion yet. You said you put washi tape strip four rows on top, bottom, and right side to cover the shaded lines that overlap on the page you’re showing. However, there are only 3 rows on top of page you are demonstrating that are the shaded overlap and none on the right or bottom of that page. I would have assumed the shaded rows are on the beginning of the next page that would need to be covered. Can you explain please, I’m confused. Thanks.🦁
@DiamondPaintingBetweentheLines
@DiamondPaintingBetweentheLines 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Lisa! Glad you asked that question... I wasn't clear on that I see now... I cover 4 rows ONLY on ANY side that connects to another page. Yes, on the next page there's only 3 rows overlapped/shaded. But, in the end what I get when I connect the pages together is a 5 square strip down the connected pages (1 square on the shaded page and 4 squares on the non-shaded page). That 5 squares is enough to fill in and makes it look like you are not connecting pages together. On my first DP I did like this I didn't leave any non-shaded squares open before I connected them and I found it made it hard to connect the pages because I couldn't easily see the grid overlapping as much and it was easier to see lines where I connected them. I found when I left a gap that filled in later, I could easily make the connections look seamless. I have made a note so that when I make the part 4 video where I show how I connect the pages I will try to clear up that confusion. Thanks for the question. Your feedback helps me! And, you are a lion-ess! I can see that by how deep you are thinking into how to do this! If you try it, be sure to let me know how it goes! 🦁💜

Are you doing it this way because it is cheaper?
@DiamondPaintingBetweentheLines
@DiamondPaintingBetweentheLines 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Teresa! It is definitely cheaper, but that's not really why I did it that way. I did it that way because I don't find it relaxing to have to count to figure out where to place drills on a blank canvas and it takes a VERY long time to place drills that way. I like for diamond painting to be relaxing. And, I find this method is very relaxing for me once I get the symbols printed out on the canvas. And, I like that I can size my grid to match the drill size so that I don't get popping drills or gaps between the drills. Hope that answers your question. 💜

@teresakooser5695 2 жыл бұрын
I am new to this diamond painting stuff. I have never been a crafter. I was asking are you doing this because it is cheaper than buying a canvas ready to go? I’m thinking you do this because you like to create.
@DiamondPaintingBetweentheLines
@DiamondPaintingBetweentheLines 2 жыл бұрын
@@teresakooser5695 I would say that I do it because of these 4 things in the order listed: 1) I want the diamond painting to be relaxing; 2) I can ensure better success when I match the grid size to the drill size 3) it's fun to make something from "scratch"; 4) It is cheaper than a blank canvas. But, #1 is by FAR my biggest motivator to do it this way. I wouldn't ever do a complete diamond painting with a blank canvas, I just think it's way too frustrating trying to figure out where each drill goes with that method. More work than I want to put into a craft I do for the relaxation aspect. 😀
