Thanks so much for NOT having an annoying music intro to fancy up a video. Straight to the point with information we go searching for. Music intros are trendy and useless.

The only thing I would have liked to see done differently is to have the QA plate welded as close to the back of the bucket as possible to help maintain the breakout force. I’m not sure how much of a difference it would make but it looks like it could be around 2” closer. Great video as always Mike!

Who ever invented this system deserves a medal. Looking at the bucket and adapter plate at the machine shop, seems to me it would have been cleaner and stronger if they had used 4 pins

Very nice! I can’t imagine NOT having a quick attach bucket. You’re right, it will change his life. Now he just needs a grapple. Great job. -Ed

If only all jobs were that easy! I would have liked to see how the welding shop was able to keep the correct angle, but it was still nice to watch.

That part is pretty easy. The best way is to level up the pin holes then support the bucket exactly where the pin holes are vertical on your weld table. Then you come in with a square and mark your cut line. If this needs to be really precise you just go ahead and weld the bucket to the table. Ideally you have a measurement from the bottom pin to the top of the quick tach from the tractor handy. Now you mock up the attachment plate again at 90 because the bucket didnt move. You fine tune the cut edge to be as clean as possible and fab whatever plates you need to fill the gap on a shear. Then you tack it all in check that your plate is the right height and square and burn in all your welds. Once tacked you can reposition for whatever weld is needed because the geometry is set.

Good video, Mike. This is REAL "news you can use", for all of us that don't have the latest and greatest tractors that are already set up for quick-attach, yet we can get the feature installed on the old iron. Nice.

I just added a quick attach to my Kubota tractor. On your website your pin on SSQA is priced hard to beat when you add the weld on bracket to the order. I had a similar heavy duty round back bucket that I was considering welding on. However, in my case like this one, the round back has limited surface area to weld the plate onto the bucket. Combine that with how cheap buckets are I decided to sell mine and buy a new bucket new with SSQA. Turns out I got a new bucket for about $400 after selling mine and it’s just as heavy duty. After I put the SSQA on I bought pallet forks and I used that to get the bucket off the back of the semi when it showed up.

Great video Mike! I did this conversion on my BX last year - best upgrade ever! I went with a newer BX bucket (my brother inlay works in the Kubota service department and got it for cost). I find I use my Artilllian Fork frame more than my bucket!
@06goatm6
@06goatm6 2 жыл бұрын
I want to do this to my BX but I'm afraid the added weight of the SSQA frame and the bracket on the bucket will substantially reduce my already low weight lifting ability. Same reason I'm contemplating getting a EA Wicked Root Grapple for pin on application, to try and keep the weight down and the lifting capacity up.

You have an old pin on bucket and I am learning that the old buckets have a hump at the back that makes it harder to adapt. The newer buckets are flat at the back and probably less volume but it helps keep the load closer to the pins. So you loose more leverage converting an old bucket. I was able to get a used bucket with the quick attach plate already on it.

I have a QA on my Kioti and I use the forks almost as much as I use the bucket. Always changing back and forth.

Great idea. I bought a B7800 30 HP HST 16 years ago. I will look into this conversion. We just bought an L2501 with the QA loader. The only idea I would like to suggest is to make the bucket plate reciever pinned as well to eliminate the welding shop. Maybe there is a reason you did it that way? Great idea!
@TractorMike
@TractorMike 2 жыл бұрын
Couple of reasons, it would be more costly to match that kit to the pin mount, but mainly because it would put the load out further forward and you lose lift capacity the further out you go. Also, there would be extra metal in that scenario that would reduce your lift capacity. I totally agree with the concept, it would be nice to offer a kit that would require no welding, but it's likely that the price would cause most customers to opt for the welded plate and on smaller tractors you need all the lift capacity you can get.

Great video. How do you determine where the mounting plate will get welded in place vertically? Is there a standard height?

Under this video shown in your Tractor Mike Fun Store, it's noted that this particular QA kit is not recommended for back dragging. Why is that and will the kit made for my Kioti CK2510 (KL250 loader) work for back dragging? By the way, great video as usual!

I just bought a used tractor, without the quick attach bucket, I'll be making the same change in the near future. Since my bucket doesn't have any hooks, I'll just set the bucket down on my trailer, and pull the pins, leaving the bucket on the trailer. I'll get the welding shop to attach the new plate and some hooks to the bucket.

Great video Mike. If they don’t make a Quick attach for a loader, is there a conversion kit that could be adapted to my Kubota B2150 with a 1845 QT Bush Hog loader?
@TractorMike
@TractorMike 3 жыл бұрын
There's a universal kit, but I think it weighs too much for smaller compacts. If you get too much weight out on the front of the loader you don't have any lift capacity left for the load. Shoot me an e-mail when you get a chance at mike@asktractormike.com and I'll look into it and let you know if there are other options.

Great video, very informative. I’m courious about welding a quick attach plate to a pin on bucket. I’ve been told it would be cheaper to buy a bucket with a quick attach plate than to convert a pin on bucket. Any thoughts?
@TractorMike
@TractorMike 2 жыл бұрын
A good bucket is going to cost about $800-$1000. Any cheaper probably won't last. If the bucket has any damage to it, when you go to quick attach it would be the best time to replace it, but if the bucket is good I think you'll be a few hundred dollars ahead to convert it to Q/A.

Hi Mike, I need some information on how to remove my bucket and build a skid steer attachment system so I can have multiple attempts ability. I think I know but if I remove my bucket and build it wrong, I could screw it all up and be without a working tractor.

How thick is the steel on the plate you welded to the bucket?
@TractorMike
@TractorMike 2 жыл бұрын
The standard bracket that welds on the bucket is ¼” plate. The factory maintains that a plate any thicker is a waste for most applications. While thicker 3/8” plate is heavier, and that additional material is there “on the job” it does very little for additional strength. They do offer a 3/8” bracket which is commonly used on wider frames snowplows. It is a solid, full-width plate…not open center, so there’s less area to weld to. The 3/8” solid plate would weigh 112 lbs. (versus 51 lbs. for the standard bracket) and add $95 to the cost of the package. We actually don't recommend it for most applications.

Sorry hit send button by accident, install 4 pins on bucket side with,say schedule 80 bushings on each and make brackets to be welded to the adapter plate to sch 80 bushings. This way you could always remove bucket to sell or replace, rather than cutting all those welds, just a thought

@TractorMike Жыл бұрын
L5450 is the tractor model number. If it has a Kubota loader it's probably an LA1150, this would fit it: asktractormike.com/product/kubota-bf800-bf900-bf1100-la950-la1100-la1150-front-end-loader-pin-on-to-skid-steer-quick-attach-conversion/, if it could be an LA1150A, and if it's that one, here's your conversion: asktractormike.com/product/kubota-la950a-la1001-la1002-la1150a-front-end-loader-pin-on-to-skid-steer-quick-attach-conversion/.
