Converting a VW Beetle into a camping trailer

In this video, we join Max as he converts a beaten-up VW Beetle into a camping trailer.
If you watched the last Beetle conversion with Max, you’ll recognise the black Beetle in this video as the “one that got away”! In fact, the last time we saw it, it was a shell with a written off engine!
Max made this the ideal opportunity to convert the car into a camping trailer. Or in his words a “the ultimate, retro, caravan, teardrop, trailer type contraption”.
We hope you enjoy the fun and utterly ridiculous journey of transforming a VW Beetle with the addition of a cooking area, shower, communal seating, modular bed and dining area!

I am thinking of doing this with an old non-running minivan. Strip out all of the engine compartment. Convert brakes to electric. Then do the inside myself.

Sounds awesome! We did struggle with room in the beetle, had to get a little creative. So a Mini van would be a great upgrade. Let us know how you get on

A 22 year old fibreglass boxed ex ambulance.. renault master 🙌 😎 ive just taken everything out except the kitchen...lot to do no shower going in but roofs getting refibreglassed in the next few months as it leaks in 3 places.then I can get it cladded and new sofa and bed built. Look out for v8de9s in the near future

I am planning to do similar out of a renault clio. I have 2 questions. How much is the tongue weight? What do you need to be road legal, or you don't need certification because it's for private use and not for sale?
