I've only been a carpenter for about 7 months now but I can say it ended up looking good in the end for one person who hasn't built a wall. Really just wanted to say the studs being that far off plumb is most likely your tiny cheap level. You want at least a 6 foot good quality level for a wall that tall. Boards are never perfectly straight and have a "crown". Wich makes most of them have a bow down the edge. Awesome video btw!
@GoHerping2 жыл бұрын
Oh I didn't think about that. The level came free with some hammer or something, but the wall is definitely leaning - I realized because I cut them just a little too long so when they felt upright, they were actually at an angle in order to fit
@boomerlastname93612 жыл бұрын
@@GoHerping Lol sounds good. In that case it might be a good idea to try to secure the bottom of the wall to the floor so it doesn't slide out And fall. Usually we use a tool called a Ramset to shoot a nail through the bottom plate (in your case the 2x4's separating your studs) into the the concrete. But damaging that concrete floor in the garage is a big no no. I can ask my boss what he would do when I get to work and get back to ya if you want.
@pjp93832 жыл бұрын
@@boomerlastname9361 I wonder if he could do something similar to what you describe, but instead of through the bottom of the wall into the concrete floor, he could do through the side of the wall, near the bottom, into the walls of the garage on both sides.

I got REALLY EXCITED TO SEE WHAT YOU WERE GOING TO DO NEXT! YOU DID A FANTASTIC JOB!!!! BRAVO!!!! IT LOOKS PERFECT TO ME! Just a little slit on the upper wall which made me worry about heat/cool loss and the cost of your electric bill, but other than that, WONDERFUL! I've seen those floorboard heaters that line the wall and the floor. I don't know if they cool for summer. There are these wall a/c units that are small. I've seen them in Japan and in the Caribbean. They cool a smaller space and do work well. I don"t know what they are called or the cost. Both the a/c and floorboard heater I think are electric, so you'll have a higher electric bill, if you are looking for something permanent and go for those. Alex, you are quite an inspiration! Plus, I caught the stud joke... not a joke, 😊. Really, a fantastic job. BRAVO again!!!

It's a lot of fun seeing how the animal hobby can really give you a reason to try building/creating different things. I've never been a technical person-- far from it, really... But just the few pets that I have challenge me to think more creatively and intelligently to come up with solutions to make things more attractive, or more efficient, or more safe. I like that I'm beginning to develop this ability and I'm excited to see what kind of skills I can learn in the future. Unfortunately right now I'm a broke-ass student living in a 1br apartment, so there isn't a lot that I can do. I just keep fantasizing and making plans for when my partner and I buy our future house.

If the level bubble is going away from the outside big garage door tap the bottom of the boards going towards the big garage door(hit the direction the doors are).
