After 9 years as a nurse, I can confidently talk for a whole hour as to why you shouldn't become a nurse. Many of us are singing a tune of "GET OUT" before you even get in.
Don't worry I'll be coming out with the counterpart to this video: Why you should become a nurse but until then sit back and listen to me rant on this profession for a bit.

Convincing you why you should become a nurse: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bZyvi42hh8aJlac What on this list is a deal breaker for you? OR what on this list do you feel is the worst part of nursing? The thing I hate the most is supervising people (cnas and techs), I HATE telling adults how to do their jobs. BUT when you have a great tech or CNA, man it makes the biggest difference, they are a God send.

Management is concern with charting, CBT and if is a Magnet Facility, they have the nurses' attending committees to agendas that are not improving pt care. I'm glad today nurses are not putting up with it. Even the doctors are waking up and quitting their jobs because of stress not getting adequate sleep. Something needs to change. I respect you for having the courage to discuss what goes on behind the scenes in nursing. You keep thriving! God is taking care of you for stepping to the plate and unmasking what we are dealing in nursing.

Yeah I'm an introvert and neurodivergent, I definitely wouldn't last in this field. I experienced some of this in social work. Too many women, messiness, cattiness, unprofessionalism, office cliques like high school and I finally left. I work in Academia now and love the work culture, most of my colleagues are introverts.

This all of this. I'm a paramedic have been for 14 years. I work in the ER as a tech. I have been on this journey to get my nursing for a while and wondered why I kept finding resistance and blocks. Not going to lie I was kind of hard on myself for years. I still love interacting with patients. It's the politics of the hospital I hate. I've come to accept it wasn't rejection just realignment. I would be miserable being a nurse. Especially being neurodivergent and introverted myself. I can get overly stimulated and not act like myself. I recently decided to switch routes try to go to school to be a radiology tech first as a foundation then branch off to CT and MRI. I'm naturally an independent worker, it's still patient care just not as taxing as nursing, minimal interaction with doctors and nurses. Especially with CT the introverted side of me just wants to hide in the room by myself run the test listen to music keeps me calm 😂

Chile I'm so tired of juggling all the jobs that come with nursing. I don't mind changing diapers, walking pts to the bathroom, feeding pts, passing water, setting up beds for admissions stripping beds after discharge, transporting all around the hospital, constantly answering the phone from different areas of the hospital, talking to families, being a secretary, calling the kitchen to make sure my pts are getting the food they asked for, babysitting, on top of passing meds, wound dressings, inserting foleys, bladder scans, q4 neuro checks, vitals q 4 and everything else that come with it but IM TIRED AND ITS ONLY BEEN 5 YRS INTO BEDSIDE!!! I have to get out cause I am burnt out. Staffing ratios need to be better cause the workload is exhausting. I just don't know what I wanna do, I did LTC and hospital.😩

yes it's very tiring, I feel like if we had more help and teamwork it would make a WORLD of a difference. Touching on the nursing shortage. I think organizations (hospitals, facilities, etc) are deliberately playing with people's licenses out of greed. Just trying to use less nurses to get the same work done. I'm not a nurse yet, but the hospital I work at has pretty good ratios. 1:5/6 for medsurg, 1:3 IMCU, and 1:2 for any ICU. Every now and then, you'll hear about some new hotshot manager trying to up the ratio but it goes nowhere because the union at this hospital not letting that fly.

Hi I have been a follower of your channel for a very long time. I believe your patients are lucky to have you. I felt lucky that I got to work home-care & I was a CNA. I also worked closely with nurses for a couple years. I had to be honest it’s not something deep down I want to do. Nursing is a very worthwhile career. I just honestly wish people would promote other fields because nursing is not the only game in town. A friend & mentor recommended respiratory therapy & there’s OT, PT, rad tech, dental hygiene etc etc. sometimes I think they also need to split up nursing so nurses don’t feel so overwhelmed. Yes and I have had bad experiences with nurses. I can’t just put my head down & do what I’m told if it’s incongruent with my values. Everything you said in the beginning is true. It’s also a very rigid hierarchy much like the military.

Even starting off as a PCT will give you a better idea if this field is for you and it won't take that long to do the schooling. Now depending on what you do now it may be a pay cut but like I stated, it's a quick/entry level way to get in the field and see what it's like. Good luck, check out my pros to nursing vid that goes with this one.

And it’s called the sunk cost fallacy 😮 baby if it ain’t good for you, let it go. But we still need money and a job so. I’m not a nurse, I’m in the beauty industry

I just looked that up, I guess it doesn’t make sense just to old on to something just because of the time you put in if you are still going to be unhappy. That’s what people do when they stay in marriages just bc they’ve been together for too long!!

Naw that’s a restraint in most places and people can still get up and out of a bed even with the bed rails up.

Why did you get in the field to talk down on the field? Nursing is not for everyone. As a RN please learn some tact and professionalism and be the change you wish to see in the world.

It’s not a challenge to do your job as a RN if you are competent and continuously seek to learn and educate yourself. Talking negative about the field is not the way to go. If you don’t like it, leave the field and do something else. It’s simple. Your words are discouraging to future RN’s. You still have a CNA/LPN mentality; you are a RN now, toughen up.

Nah, this career is still hard. Nothing wrong with exposing the hardships of nursing. And if someone doesn't like it, they shouldn't leave they should try to change the field so that less people feel this way cause she is not the only one

Yes, we keep going because there are no other immediate options that match the pros of this career…life is happening along the way like having children and growing our families, so our options end up being somewhat limited
