Convoy C8 (Custom) Cree XP-E2 Green Hunting Flashlight. How To build Video

I thought I would take on the challenge of building my first Flashlight and decided to start with a hunting flashlight for predators and hogs. So I thought I would record the build and share it with you all including the mistakes lol.
This build really impressed me with how bright it was for only being a 122 lumen led and how far the light would throw/reach compared to my other Convoy C8 that has the Cree XM-L2 led that is pushing out 960 Lumens. This guy is a little throwing monster that's for sure!
The video quality isn't the greatest for some reason my camera was messing up but it's good enough to share.

Folks watching this to learn, soldering works much better if you clean, flux, and tin the soldering iron tip before you start soldering, and again as needed if you do enough soldering that the tip is no longer shiny.

Great video man! You made one mistake in stating the light output though. You said the light is only 122 lm. But on the mountain electrons website it says 122 lm at 0.35A and a max current of 1.9A. Since you are driving the LED at 1.9A you probably are getting closer to 500-600 lm on high.

Will you are correct. Once I uploaded the video I realized what I said wrong lol and jist decided to keep it up instead of recording a new one lol.

Lux Lumen haha yeah I wouldn't want to record a new video either. I'd probably just add a pop up or put it in the description.

If you take the magnet and start like half way your screwdriver and push it towards the tip a few times you will magnetisch the tip also(like trying to make a point on a stick with a knife)

These lights are great, aren't they? I've built around 10 Convoy hosts in the last year or so and I really like what they're capable of. Look into Solarforce flashlight hosts and the P60 drop in. They make for a great all around light. I might be wrong, but after looking at the Cree XP E data sheets it would appear your light is putting out somewhere around 500 to 600 lumens. You said you were running the emitter around 1.8 amps? That's where I got that guesstimate from.

+Maynard Waterhead I need to read those data sheets because the site I got the Led from said it will push 122 Lumens but that might not be pushed to the max 1.9A that I am pushing it at.

Great video, on the parts list though, when it says green or red, is that the color of the light? If so, could you link the one that isn't colored? Thank you!

Your eyes are more sensitive to green vs other colors. They are poor measure of light output. But led ratings are also not standard

Justin V. absolutely no heat issue's, I am currently pushing it at 2.8A with no issues at all.

sweet, im thinking of getting a stock c8 and then a couple of hosts and drivers and doing a red and green led, the c8 is amazing for it cost from what ive read and heard about it

Justin V. Yes it is and there are a couple different C8 hosts out there but I highly recommend the Convoy C8 for both the price and build quality of the light, it is by far the best imo.

You shold: - stop bumping those boxes with your hands, you did that more than 12 times in first 50 seconds of the video, - if you received parts from MTN for free then you should mention that if not you should not make 3 minute long advertisement for MTN, - you should cut your nails, it was disgusting to see them all the time. other than that, the build was more or less OK... Cheers
