wow, thanks for the in depth review! an OP reflector would go nice on this LED in my opinion. Too bad convoy doesnt make OP reflector for L21B units. Or do they?

I don't think they do 🤔 it would make the beam smoother but less throwy on this light.

Nice beamshots! The tint doesn't even seem that bad for being a lower CRI version. Do you have anything with the XHP50.3 to compare to this? I want a C8+ for high CRI, bright, and efficient. Just wondering if the XHP50.3 would do this best or if the XHP70.3 will work better with the 18650 cell.

Thank you man, yes I have the XHP50.3HI with my Convoy S21E. Very bright and throwy too. I think the 50.3 is ideal for smaller bezel lights as it will still throw quite far. But the XHP70.3HI may be too large and produce mainly flood in that light. But in the C8+, I'd say just go the the XHP70.3 HI. It can handle it. And you get almost twice the output.

Tint has nothing to do with CRI. In most XHP 70.3 HI the lower CRI versions have better tint than the high CRI versions do

Tint and CRI are somehow related. Low CRI often tends to greenish/yellowish tint, as we can see in low CRI XHP 70.2 or SST40. High CRI ranges from golden to rosy tint. Some LEDs, like XHP 50.3, doesn't seem to tint shift even in low CRI versions.

@@matheusmf4135My convoy xhp50.3hi r9050 5000k are so green. But Convoy xhp70.3hi r70 5000k are on the pink side, nice tint. Convoy SFT40 5000K r70 are nicely pink too.

This one is 6V5A boost, right? Compare to sft40 3V8A, does the throw comparable? I think about choosing between 70.3hi 6V8A boost which would be brighter than this or sft40 3V10A buck in this body. Thanks.

The SFT40 will throw further. By how much I'm not sure, maybe 1-200more. But it's not a huge around and the extra light output of the 70.3 is quite amazing.

I think Sft40 is really good for this host. Big enough reflector size for throw and some spill.

Can't go wrong with the SFT40. But the 70.3 high will produce more light and comparable throw at lower amps. 5 vs 8A

does this have the same reflector as the sft40 version? since the XHP70.3 HI led is much bigger than the sft40 led, I think it doesnt have the same reflector "hole". What do you think?

Yes same reflector. They have to be adjusted for each LED. Also different gaskets need to be fixed at the base. So some would probably be better focused than others. SFT40 should be fine (no donut hole)?

Can't verify the driver. Think it's a linear regulated driver. The runtime graphs should be in the middle of this video. But I remember getting maybe a minute or two of runtime on turbo.

Hi Darren, Which one did you get ? the R70 or the R9050 ? and what's the difference ??

Hi Brett, I got the R70 as it produces 4000 lumens. 9050 makes 3000 lumens but has better CRI. So you can recognise colours better. But I prefer higher output.

Yes you can. Do you have the 12 mode version? You can set it to the 100% mode grouping, or 100, 20, 10 mode (or similar, can't remember exactly). So when you turn it on, always starts at 100.
