Conway Scenic Railroad Mountaineer & Valley Train

Conway Scenic Railroad has braved the pandemic and has operated daily since June! On August 25, 2020, we see two trains passing the Intervale Post Office. The Mountaineer (formerly the Notch Train) was led by #216 (I was really hoping for GP-38 #252), and the Valley train was led by #573 as usual, but without the Gertrude Emma observation car. The Valley train is operating on a slightly altered schedule and the 3:30 train to Bartlett reverses into Mountain Junction shortly after leaving North Conway to allow the Mountaineer to pass. Normally, these trains meet at Bartlett, but this new arrangement allowed me to see both trains within a short amount of time.

252 is out of service, but they hope to get it fixed this summer. The Gertrude Emma should be running tomorrow if things go to plan!

The #252 is out of service with a major engine failure. No word if it will be repaired for the remainder of the season. The Gertude Emma is also out of service with unknown issues.
