When recording do you have to have the app open all the time?

The camera will record when it detects movement and save the footage to a micro sd card (if you insert one) or save to the iCloud if you choose that option

it depend how often the camera is recording for (if the motion detection is set off a lot) but could be as little as 2 weeks, i would keep power connected if you can or add a solar panel to the camera.
