I grew up with 6 siblings and life was hard always making sacrifices because my parents only made a minimum wage. I promised myself that I would only have 2 kids, which I did. They were good teens and now they are both decent adults. I age slower than my peers because my kids don’t give me stress. Yes, more kids=more stress.

I only have 3, but I understand her. Can’t imagine having 4,5,6-10+. most head aches and worrisome come when they are older, when they think they know it all. But one significant thing I learned is our child/children should not be our self image. If we have done the best that we knew how, the turn outs of our children are not our fault.

Every child has their own developmental stage; some will mature faster some slower. Every parent wants the BEST for their children. We only wish our children the very best of everything. Let them be independent and learn from their mistakes in order to grow and thrive for their future.

My husbands family they have 5 siblings, I noticed that the siblings my in laws spoil the most are the worst. My husband and his one sister are the only two that have had to really work hard for stuff and they are the only two that are successful in life, own homes, have good jobs and kids. The other 3 siblings constantly ask and take from my in laws. They are all adults and one is in jail; one is a bum and one has hella kids and want to drop them off all the time. As parents you need to keep your kids grounded but it’s also the kids mentality. They have to want to be good people and be successful.

My mom would always tell Me that from when I was a little girl. Age 3. It just became a habit of hers and she didn’t realized that it greatly impacted me into adulthood. Feeling unwanted and a burden. So please no matter how mad ya get, don’t say those words.

We live the American life, I am also a mother of 3 girl, I used to be hard on them,but when I realized that I was once in their shoes, why keep being so hard on them, it's just life, let them be we as a parent just encourage them to do the right them,keep supporting them, weather if they boy or girl..all we can do is support them let them know the good and the bad,, why stressed yourself, I find out that the more you worry and stress about them,.the more you will be sick...it's there children it's their life let them take care themselves...

What Hmong parents (those who we'd call w/ the 1975 mentality or or those who arrived in the US after the Vietnam War) failed to realize is that chances of their children attending/graduating from college was statistically low. I bet most Hmong parents at that time knew the importance of education but lacked the skills to help guide their children through college. All they'd say was rau rau siab kawm ntawm. My point is, children whose parents attended/graduated colllege are much more likely to attend/graduate college themselves since the parents have 1st hand experience to help guide them.

I disagree with you. I’m an educated mom of a masters degree and two of my 4 kids didn’t want to go to college. You can preach and encourage all you want but when they’re determined about their life, there’s nothing you can do about it. It’s an ongoing battle of frustration, anger, melancholic, depression and detachment.

I don’t care about money, degree etc, but the only thing I want is for my sons to be God fearing men. I grew up with 9 siblings. I told myself i would not have that many kids. I have 4 kids. Yes, the struggles of 4 kids (all different ages) is real, especially when they start dating. The headaches, the worries, and the parent talks is like constantly there to remind them, but at the same time just remember you were them once. Give them a little space with responsibilities and rules. I make my oldest pay for her own phone bill when she reached 16 yrs old (old enough to work). Now she got a license, she also pay for her car insurance and phone. It makes them be more responsible and understand the value of her own hard earned money. My oldest is still A honor roll. It depends on kids. Every kid is different.

Stop controlling your kids. Help them grow by giving words of encouragement and be there with them as they step on each stage of their development growth. I don’t understand why these parents are so negative and always bad mouth their own kid but would praise other people’s kids. Blame the parent. Your children is a reality reflection of how you are as a parent and as a person. New or old generations. I’ve even see parents these days that think their parenting is the right way by spoiling their kids like no tomorrow and do not teach their kids discipline. Some people just shouldn’t be parents.

America is NOT the land to have a million kids. Too expensive and no time to raise them. I can barely get by with 4 kids. College tuition is over the roof and inflation keeps going up. Only have the # of kids you can afford.
