For freezing bread - we are empty nesters, and I am the only one who eats bread - I used to freeze slices but found that if I didn’t eat them within two weeks, the slices would start to dry out. Now I slice each loaf into three pieces and freeze them. Each piece is enough for me for 3-4 days, and the bigger portions don’t dry out.

I lay my bread out and a half sheet pan in the freezer for about 45 minutes till it gets partially frozen then I go ahead and stack it in a freezer bag. That way the bread does not stick together and you don’t have to put parchment in between the slices.make sure it is completely cold or the humidity will cause it to have frost on it. You probably already know that.

I always make four loafs , when cool, cut them and put them in bread bags I get from amazon and freeze them. when ready just take a loaf out and put it on the counter. Then thaw and enjoy.

Hey Felicia, try cooking your bacon in the oven! Sheet pan, parchment paper and lay the bacon out. Cook at 425* for 20 to 25 minutes or until it's how you like it cooked. Worked in restaurants most of my life, I'm 60, and this is how we always cooked bacon and how I still cook it today. Also frees up your stove top and easier to pour off your bacon grease for keeping. Saves a lot of time too! 😉

I think those stuck parts on the bottom of the soup add a lot of flavor when stirred in.

I have been freezing bread and freezer meals for over 10 years. I use fresh milled wheat as well. I can likely answer your questions for freezing how to’s! Don’t slice your bread first. Freeze whole and store in a gallon ziplock if it fits. If not then wrap in plastic wrap and double wrap, then foil and you’re good to go. They will thaw on the counter in a couple hours. Keeps bread fresher longer and I’ve prepped my bread up to 4 months before I was due and it was perfect. To reheat whole loaf you can brush with butter and pop into oven at 350 for 10 minutes. Or thaw and use as you would on the counter. It’s just as soft and tender as fresh! I recently started a KZbin channel and share homemaking and mom stuff as well! I also share fresh milled recipes and tips ☺️

Also I use the thin bread bags from Amazon and have even frozen bread loaves in there for 2 months and thawed perfectly. They aren’t as thick as ziplock but I was shocked to see it was great when we sliced and i even used it soft to dip into oil and balsamic!

I slice my loaves and stick them as the whole sliced into a bag to freeze. It’s really easy to pop the frozen slices apart. Occasionally one is extra sticky and I carefully pry apart with a knife, but usually even sitting it on the counter for 5 min it warms enough to pop apart easily and back in the freezer goes the rest of the loaf. I like my bread super fresh, so freezing and pulling out just what we need each day works for me! Same with extra waffles and pancakes

Oh and I’ll wrap it more if it’s longer storage, but just the bag is good for a couple weeks

You are awesome Felicia! Your gift for teaching is apparent! Love the way you stand strong on biblical trutH and bread…..this is your niche! Have told so many people about your videos!!! In terms of freezing slices…..I think this is why I just tend to make buns out of my bread versus a loaf…..Easier for individualized consumption. Initially it is more work than a loaf but I avoid having to slice, use parchment paper….etc, etc. I do make a few loaves…but I just keep them intact. Buns also look more appetizing to me after freezing…but that’s just my family’s preference.

awww you're so sweet! Hey I started out making buns! Nothing wrong with that at all. Especially when you do them like that where it's easy portion sizes. And what matters also is what your family likes :-)

Never froze mine like this. I do make whole grain bread as well as whole grain sourdough. I use the 2 gallon bags from Walmart and freeze w/out slicing. If I think it will be in freezer awhile I throw some freezer saran wrap over it. I then reuse those bags for next batches.

If you have an air fryer it really does bacon well. It frees up the range for other pans and no greasy mess on the range top.

You know, I started cooking my rice and boiling water like you did with pasta. With lots and lots of water. And then I just pour the water off when I’m done. It never overcook it never sticks and it washes away the extra arsenic that’s in the rice. it doesn’t take any longer than it does to heat up and then cool down in the instant pot. I don’t have to scrape it off the bottom of the instant pot either. Now there are times that I do put it in the instant pot pot when I just don’t have time to watch it.

I just purchased and returned the plastic bread slicer on AMZ - was getting shards of plastic on the slices which was NG - still hoping to find a better solution! Now I slice and wrap indiv. slices in plastic wrap and store in ziplock bags. 👍🏼

Hi Felicia! I love your videos! I bought a grain mill and Universal Mixer for my bread needing and other cooking/baking needs. I couldn't help but cringe when I saw you use your honing stick on your cutting board right there with the potatoes. FYI when you hone a steel blade, miniscule particles are removed in the process, you and your family are likely consuming those particles. I recommend doing the honing over your sink and washing the knife blade afterward to make sure those particles go down the drain rather than down your throat.
