I recently had the chance to get to Vassiliki to spend a week windsurfing and had a session with Cookie. If you manage to arrange it, it is worth every minute. For myself (intermediate; planning on and off, with and without control) it was an eye-opener on several fronts (sailing upwind, foot steering, planning efficiently, to mention a few). Cookie is an exceptional teacher and packs a lot of content in a single session. Last but not least, the team at Cosmos is helpful and friendly, the equipment top notch, and prices very reasonable. Looking forward to visiting again!

The wind at Vassiliki is so weird. When you're out on the water it appears to be coming directly from the big mountain you see in the video. You would think that the mountain would block the wind but it does not. In fact. the closer you get to the mountain, the windier it gets, until you get very close and then it's not windy.

There’s other forces at play here… but look at Katabatic winds… the wind flowing off the mountain and speeding up the airflow. 👌👌
