I've been cooking bacon in the oven for a few yrs now & love this method! I do mine at 375° for 15 min (for normal/thin-sliced bacon). Sometimes, it may need 1-2 mins more because of the variations in thickness & for thick-sliced bacon. It comes out crisp (like you & I like it!). I set the parchment-lined half sheet pan on the stovetop slightly tipped, so the lovely bacon fat flows to one side, off the bacon. Love that crispy snap!
@nelsonfarmshomesteading Жыл бұрын
Yes, that snap!!!!!

Sitting in the grease on the foil in the oven helps make it crispy. I like my bacon flatter and crispy so it works out great and cleanup is so easy.

I like mine cooked in the air fryer best. Also, if you cut into 4ths instead of half, there's less curling.

I may try the air fryer. Ours is kinda small though, so it may not be efficient.

I cook mine in the over. However, if I could find a cast iron saucer, I thin that would combine the best of both worlds--high sides and cast iron. And stainless steel.

I usually cook bacon in a microwave until hundreds of little bubbles form on the surface. I've seen others cook bacon in the oven (and in a skillet with water) and you'll also see hundreds of little bubbles form on the surface. All of the fat is cooked out, but it is chewy at this stage. I think you'd want to continue cooking until all of those bubbles disappear and the bacon snaps (and is well done).

Making bacon in the microwave works perfectly for just me. In a glass pie pan I place 3 strips folded in half vertically covering with a top, cook for 4 minutes, take out and drain the bacon grease, flip it over and repeat and drain again. Easy-peasy, works perfectly and I'm left with a square of perfectly cooked bacon with no pan to clean.

Your pot cooked bacon was better because you cooked it in bacon fat, which you did not do for the oven version. I cook mine on a cookie sheet in the oven, but I cover it with parchment and a second cookie sheet, so it comes out perfectly flat. This is not really necessary, but I like flat pieces for BLTs.

I cook my bacon in the oven at 375 degrees for 30-40 minutes or until it's as done as we like it to be. It gets placed on a parchment lined cookie sheet or silicone sheet. Turns out great. Cooks the same as if it was done in a pot because it cooks in its own fat. Then I put it on paper towel. If it's elevated, the fat drains off and the bacon is more dry and loses its flavor.

I've only seen Dr. Berry do it in a pot--- but then- I don't cook it at all-- it's TOO EXPENSIVE.... went to WALMART yesterday and a small pack was $10.98 and didn't even look good.. I can eat a plate full by myselfand NOT even be full... so I can NOT afford it right now--- I actually bought a CHUCK STEAK for $5 , and that means I can have 2 steaks for what ONE plate of bacon costs.. which is a shame-- I LOVE bacon.

put bacon in a cold oven. Turn to 400 degrees. When it gets to temp, set your timer. 8 minutes on average, but thickness dictates that. You messed up with the rack. It tastes better when it cooks in its own grease. It browns just fine. Not a valid comparison, cause you decided that it needed to be out of the grease,

I definitely prefer the oven. 100% 400° for approximately 20-25 minutes. Usually thicker slices and I like 'em chewy to slightly crisp. I use like ½" deep cookie trays, line them aluminum foil and place cooling racks on top. Bake the bacon on the cooling racks and let the oil drip down so I can easily collect it once it cools a little. I can be way more precise with doneness as compared to the pot method which, for me, just resulted in almost burnt bacon and uneven cooks.
