OMG old boy Nathan ;-) I must have known him almost 40 years now and he never changes. Still as mad as a hatter and loving his steam locos. Thanks for posting that Wayne, I really enjoyed it. As soon as I heard that voice I knew it was that nutter Nathan once again ;-)

Boerewors - it sounds Dutch, the way it's written looks Dutch and the sausage looks quite like sausages one could buy in the Netherlands when I was a little lad (some 55 years ago).

Interesting, I wasn't aware Marklin made a HO SAR 15F.
@shroomzed29474 жыл бұрын
Wayne Nauschutz They never did, as far as I know. I don’t think any large manufacturer produces SAR locomotives, or any 3’6” locomotives, as they’d be horribly out of scale. A 15F built to the same track gauge as a standard gauge model would be noticeably taller than an average American locomotive and would dwarf a European. If you built a real 15F to exact specifications, but scaled up to standard gauge, chimney height would be well over 17 feet tall and would be larger in all dimensional respects than ATSF 3751.

the top of the lubrecator would be a bit better then the coal shovel I mean I saw it done on an old british documentry but coal is a very very gritty dirty substance, I could understant boiling tea on the backhead, which is still done in the british seam to this day on the historic lines, but I would never do it on a dirty shovel myself
@WayneSA857 жыл бұрын
I've eaten some lovely meals cooked on the shovel. It's thoroughly cleaned with the spray pipe before use and no firing occurs during lunch so no particles flying about the fire box. Lubricator takes too long if time is short.
@manga127 жыл бұрын
well thats good its cleaned off but the idea still makes me a bit leary.

manga12 Ive done this many times, I always clean the shovel with steam from the injector. I dare say the shovel is more hygienic after that than the dishes from many dishwashers :)

Though it seems funful,Is it not a waste of public money when train is not moving.?.
@WayneSA857 жыл бұрын
No, it isn't. This is a heritage locomotive preserved and funded by a club of volunteers who operate special excursion trains in order to raise funds. The state railways in South Africa are falling apart, these private organisations are ten times more efficient and better run.
