I made flour tortillas using sourdough early this summer and they are so much better than store bought! I'm going to try making on the grill next time as it looks like a smoother process! THANKS PENNY! Love the rectangle idea too!Brilliant!

Good morning! It's 12:41am here in Gladstone. I have never heard of sourdough tortillas before. Bravo! I have never seen tortillas so tender and not dried out.

If that is Gladstone MO you are not far from me at all! I am so glad I taught you something new! Also glad you now know about them. They are so very good. There are several recipes I have tried but these are so easy! Just make sure they are stored totally airtight and heat just a couple seconds before using. Blessings on this new adventure! 😁🤗

@@OpenHandFarm Yes, just about a half hour from you. I will try making these and let you know how they turn out. Usually I don't care so much for tortillas because they are bland. Now Sourdough (really sour) I love!

This has made me motivated to start my sourdough starter! I bought dehydrated sour dough from someone and was given no directions. It has been sitting in the envelope. I am going to do some research to figure out how to get it started. I’m a newbie when it comes to sourdough, but am excited to try!

They look so very good! I like to use them warm, spread with butter and then sprinkled with sugar and cinnamon. Naughty but very nice. When you wrap them in plastic wrap - do you refrigerate them or leave them on counter? I always refrigerate mine but now wonder since you added the "they don't get hard or moldy" so assume I've been doing it wrong. Your set up is just perfect and I couldn't agree more - roll them into rectangles as they are much more friendly to food that way. Must be they were squished in those presses before making them round and then just became normal to use that shape. I don't know of any reason they would be better used in round form. Funny how we begin things that turn into traditions without even thinking since they become normal to us. I guess that is how we build bad habits and have to work to make new habits. Habits are the key - we don't like change! I better keep on with the good habits until they become normal to me.

Oh Mary, I couldn’t agree more with the butter and cinnamon and sugar! I leave mine on shelf in creamery but I doubt it would hurt to leave in fridge. It is funny how how things just become the way things are! Blessings on your good habits friend! I know how hard they can be to change from our old comfortable ways!

Looks yummy. But I'm wondering why you use so much oil?
@OpenHandFarmАй бұрын
Thanks! From what I understand, you don’t want to use the Blackstone dry. The oil cooks off pretty quickly on the black stone. I just add enough that I can continue to spread it around as it dries out. You will notice that after the initial oiling I didn’t add any more, I would just spread it over from the sides as it dried up. Hope this answers your question. Thanks so much for watching and for commenting! Have a blessed day! 😁
