Can you experiment and cook Jamaican food? I know you are vegan, so you can try rice and peas(red kidney beans) with any protein of your choice. Probably tufu, or vegan meat balls etc. Think it would be fun to watch.

I enjoy watching yourll make Ugandan food. A fun idea would be to use a spin the wheel app and add a few dishes (vegan of course) from around the globe and what the wheel lands on cook that. Great way to experiment and try new dishes and will be entertaining to watch.

These kids are officially my adopted online niece and nephews. Emily, do you have a Christmas wish list for them. Love how Adam has your back. Mommy is the second best cook, then he says second is the best. 😂The kids are so adorable, shoot I don’t even know them personally and they bring me so much joy watching them. Adam seems to be a lot more settled in Uganda 🇺🇬 smart decision in taking him back to be with his siblings. Let us know if you have an Amazon Christmas wish list for them. Blessings young lady, you are a light in this world 🌎

In Jamaica, we call matoke, green banana, and the yellow bananas ripe banana. Usually when peeling green banana you can put it in a basain of water and peel it there or add cooking oil to you hands. It prevents the stains on you hands. Hope this helps. We peel it differently as well, usually, we cut straight down on edge of the banana, slicing deep enough to break the skin but not cut the banana, then we use or hands to peel away the skin, usually the banana comes out in one whole in a few seconds. Not sure if you would like to try that as well.

The way it was done,lots of it is wasted. We do it exactly as you stated. We also call it makabo. 758🇱🇨

Hated peeling green bananas as a child in Jamaica, here in Canada, I found a simple way; put a small piece of salted cod fish OR a spoon on oil in boiling water, slit the bananas down the side and cook them, when cooked, the skin comes off easily.

In Nigeria we call them plantains, they are quite different from bananas
@TheLarters4 күн бұрын
I think plantain is different again - this is matooke/green banana! They always stay green and are savoury. Theres another type that start green but turn a dark yellow

I think matokes are called plantain. We eat them in so many different ways in Ghana. Ripened ones are so good, roasted or fried 👌🏽
@Mwesigwa_Jemimah.4 күн бұрын
@AdwoaWrites my dad is Ghanaian, and my mom is Ugandan.....we eat the fried plantain at home most of the time....its really nice, especially with beef stew....Matooke is totally different from plantain tho....Matooke is the luganda word for green bananas and then plantain is called goonja so they are totally different....their tastes also completely differ.
@TheLarters4 күн бұрын
You are right - think plantain is something different as we actually bought it today - but I haven't tried it before!
@Mwesigwa_Jemimah.4 күн бұрын
@TheLarters yeah it's different...am not sure if the roasted plantain is usually sold along the streets...not sure if that is the case in Jinja..... They are sold along the streets in Kampala. You will like it .... its really nice, it can be fried and eaten as a snack and also as food.

@YaaBrefo-qk6ix you mean the plantain that is usually fried in ghana?....Matooke is totally different from Plantain... matooke is the luganda word for green bananas, and goonja is the luganda word for plantain....they are totally different... even their tastes differ.
@YaaBrefo-qk6ix4 күн бұрын
@ ohh I see. I thought they were referring to plantain as matooke. What I just saw them cook looked like unripe plantain.
@Mwesigwa_Jemimah.4 күн бұрын
@YaaBrefo-qk6ix ikr...it does look like plantain, but it's not it .... plantain here in Uganda is mostly roasted...it's rarely cooked ...I personally prefer it fried....its really nice when fried, can be eaten as a snack and as food with some stew
