This was so healing. My Nai Nai was Chinese but she died pretty young when I was still a teenager. My one regret is not cooking with her more and learning how she made my favourite dishes. So I love watching other people take the time to cook with and learn from their parents/grandparents even tho it makes me cry every time 😭

As a 1st gen Chinese-European with Beijing-born parents, this was so fun and relatable to watch!! I love to see how other Chinese immigrants cook and pass their traditions and language onto their children. I recommend Michelle Zauner's (known artistically as "Japanese Breakfast") book called "Crying in H Mart", where she talks about maintaining her bond with her deceased mother through typical Korean dishes. This was a lovely vlog, I enjoyed every minute of it. Thank you for sharing it with us.
