So I finally got around to trying this and I didn't come out so good looking 😔, tasted great just didn't look all that good. It overflowed while baking and I think the flan didn't fully cook at 45 min 😕, I think I may have also taken it out of the pan too early, I took it out right at an hour next time I might wait until 2 hrs

I love to make this flan cake at this time of year. ❤️ I recommend adding powder cinnamon in the flan. Gives it a warmth. And I have added pumpkin purée in the spice cake mix it gives it the pumpkin flavor and makes it moist.

Curious, couldn’t you just cook it at the same time like a choco flan? Does the pumpkin flan not cook the same? Does the cast iron add a different kind of heat that is needed? I’m sure you had a lot of trial and errors to come up with this recipe and I’m excited to try it out!

I’m wondering the same thing. She’s made a chocoflan before I believe and she did the same steps but I’ve learned my chocoflan from my mom and she puts both in the Bundt cake pan and they separate while baking. As for the cast iron I wouldn’t know I use a regular round aluminum pan!

The cast iron is just to keep the water hot ☺️ you will get the same results if you use a glass baking pan, I’m 😀 the flan takes a total of 1 hour and 20 minutes to fully cook, I personally like my cake moist and like the clean lines between the cake and flan I just like it better that way (for me presentation is everything 😍) but ofc you can bake it both at same time 😉

Love this recipe!. Will make for the holidays for sure. It kept on falling apart because it was still too warm or a little to moist. I like to put my flan cakes in the fridge for a bit. I like it cold plus it firms up a little more. Provecho!
