The one from Africa is actually from North Africa, where an old and beautiful country named Tunisia is located, a couple of hundred miles away from Europe. That land has thousands of years of old, rich tradition of producing olive oil since the Roman Empire and even before, just like the regions around the Mediterranean Sea.

I believe they say that Tunisian is amongst the best. Highest in polyphenols, antioxidants, etc. The harsher climate stresses the plants more and makes them produce more of these compounds in return. Which just happens to be the stuffs that are good for us

The name of that olive oil from Tunisia is Terra Delyssa . It sold in my local grocery store in Virginia for 10 dollars , on sale 4 months ago , when it first appeared on the shelf. It now sells for twenty dollars . It reads on the bottle Gold Award Best olive oil in the world 2023 . The earlier bottles in the store read the same, but 2022 . Apparently the testers for that competition like it .

My favourite is from Tre Colonne in Giovinazzo just north of Bari in Puglia. Lord knows how many prizes they have won over the years. There are also some very good lighter and more peppery oils from the area of Tuscia (NOT Tuscany) north west of Rome where I live, made from the Canino olive - which is generally well regarded and growing in popularity. Love the video very much. you had me intrigued by the first oil. when I looked it up on their web site first think was it was from Portugal, but didn't say where from. funny thing was this bottle is not on their product list so it must be made for grocery stores. they had a few different bottles about 8 or 9 all different descriptions and one that stood out was late harvest olive oil that they were selling as a premium olive oil special edition. What we learnt from you was that late harvest ripness give more oil but less nutrients. thank you for that. what I would love for you to do a video or video series would be on the uses or the 3 different presses of oil and what you would use them for in different cooking methods ie. salads beef chicken fish. where you would use a mild flavour like just virgin olive oil for rapini or salads and use the better extra virgin olive oil for dips or finishing off a great meat or fish dish when you need the power of the flavour for and extra depth in a dish. LOVE YOUR VISEOS I put it in caps to emphasize how much I enjoyed the informative video and thank you for not jumping around and dancing like there is in most tick Tok and reels these days. thank you again.

I guess traveling to locations where people make olive oils helped a lot in acquiring the “taste” and finding authentic ones here in Canada. Tunisian olive oil is the healthiest, and easiest to confirm for extra virgin quality properties since Tunisian farmers have extremely traditional, hand picked less manufacturing involved and the olives contain the most antioxidants out of all. therefore Spain and Italy buys most of its exported oil from Tunisia and sells it packaged, under their country labels. You are consuming 90% of the time Tunisian olive oil if it's only "imported to Spain or Italy".

I’m new to the world of olive oil. I never knew all of the health benefits derived from it. I watched a few videos about choosing the best olive oils. I chose Terra Delyssa because of the information on the bottle. I’m so glad to see all the good reviews and comments about it from these good people on your site. Thank you.

After watching this video I immediately went looking for 2 of his review products. Barbera & Carapelli. Neither of them could be found, unless both companies have changed their labels in the last 4 months. Where do USA citizens buy the products he's reviewing ???

...you should be able to find them at your local Italian deli, or Costco, or online 👍👍

What's happened to the Greek Olive oil ?? I had heart & high blood pressure and I use it for the last 5 years now, and it's gone. Plus I travel to all South Europe & All those countries that you advertise.. But my surprise taste was in Greece !! You cannot beat the birthplace of Olive oil... Ty

It's unfortunate that you cannot find the Greek olive oil locally, that you want, but you can definitely order it online👍👍

I have been buying Greek EVOO imported directly from Greece. Can only find it in an international market. I get the big tin, I love it 💗

Greek Extra Virgin First Cold Pressed Olive Oil from Crete, Kalamata, & Lakonia is in my opinion the best you can buy. Brands are Spitiko, Mythologia and Minerva are excellent but also the small production 100% Organic Olive Oils in Greece are all award winning for flavor, aroma and quality . What most people don’t know is that Italy is the largest BUYER of Greek Olives . So when you look at some of the Italian Olive Oils they are actually using Greek Olives . Also Southern Italian and Sicilian Olive Oils are excellent as well . Calabrian Olive Oils are very high quality . On anther note , if you go to any Greek or Italian Restaurant in the US or Canada ask the waiter where their olive oil is from , the reason for this is that most Restaurants will use low grade Olive Oils . Especially if you ask for Olive oil to dip your bread into . Always ask if their olive oil is first cold pressed extra Virgin Olive oil . I ve been in the Olive Oil and Restarant business for over 30 years and off labeled Olive Oils are usually mixed and you will see on the back “ Olives from Tunisia, Greece, Italy and Spain” These are olives that are bought in bulk and just like honey it’s always best when it’s from the same farm and same type of Olive .

@@watchwarrior8597I agree Spitiko is the best.

Thank you for the nice explanation. Especially the two parts of your video, the way you discuss the color, quality of olive oil in the second part (01:18 OLIVES) and the processing in the third part (05:04 Olive oil Processing) are really commendable. This information helps identify extra virgin olive oil.
