I am convinced, that chopping samples and making them into beautiful pieces of music, requires the most work. More work than learning how to play piano. It’s not if you can play the piano, it’s if you know how to use you playing piano to make a nice record. If you know how to arrange sounds.

I agree that this level of sampling is harder than it looks. That said, samples still require you to be in some sort of key signature, even if it's simple or a bit unconventional. So it's not like a good sample-based producer can just ignore music theory entirely. And of course every single player on the actual sample knows how to play an instrument. I would say its more like a partnership between the beatmaker and the original players/composers.
