To not burnout it‘s also absolute essential, to not stress over your speed in making beats. Even some of the industry producers take long time and focus on quality over quantity. So statements like „i made this one in thirty minutes“ doesn‘t mean that must be the standard. Take your time and stay consistent. 🙏🏻

So so true. Having fun with it and giving myself 10 mins per beat has re-invigorated my love for music production ty mira

Yo it’s great to hear people who have the same experience as me. I remember seeing a 5 minute “FL studio speedrun” and I decided to try the challenge as a joke. It created an entire snowball effect for me and I’ve never been more productive with my music and I’ve grown more in the last year than the last 10 combined. Even without a timer now it’s a habit to work fast and I never spend more than 20 minutes on a beat.
@loukes1162 ай бұрын
@@nuh-uhbro765 yup sometimes I even limit myself by like only using 3 synths because without limitations it’s so easy to get overwhelmed and spend weeks on something
@nuh-uhbro7652 ай бұрын
@@loukes116 That’s a good habit. It doesn’t help when I started out I was trying to be a Dubstep producer which is such a sound design heavy genre, I would spend days crafting basses in the same session I’m trying to make a song and write a melody and drum patterns. I spent years unable to finish a single song RiP lol
@loukes1162 ай бұрын
@@nuh-uhbro765 haha same I was a progressive house producer, trying to layer like 12 synths for 3 days and after that I’d have no energy to finish the song. That’s one reason I love making beats, I get to actually finish stuff because you don’t need many sounds at all. I think I also have like 3000 progressive house projects and about 5 songs finished so don’t worry you’re not alone 😂
@nuh-uhbro7652 ай бұрын
@@loukes116 I completely agree making Hip Hop is simple in comparison it really puts the focus on the important stuff like creating a vibe. Someday I want to try my hand at EDM stuff again but with my new mindset and with all of my new found experience of actually turning an idea into a song. It’s chill chatting with you it’s cool to find somebody with a similar story.

One of the keys here, and I'm sure Nick will agree, is that jumping in with expectations sometimes can fuel disappointment and kill motivation. A LOT of the great music created comes from a fun creative process so if your not relaxed and enjoying yourself, it can and will damage your end result.

I came to the same conclusion a while ago, I would get frustrated when the first thing I came up with wasn't to my liking (aka I had expectations) and I'd get stuck. One day I just decided to stay neutral and work until I was satisfied and it came out great. Can't force the magic to happen, all you can really do is filter your ideas and keep going until you're satisfied with the whole thing, sometimes it takes 10 mins, sometimes it takes hours (for me at least)
