I don't mind some of his talking. I can't wait until morning so I can try this beat for myself. I've been teaching myself so videos like this really help me figure out new beats and toy with them :)

Hello Alex. I'm enjoying your various instructional videos. Lots of cool ideas that have sent me to the practice room to do some shedding. How many different kits do you have lying around your house?
@vegadomis329887 жыл бұрын
Good lesson. I use a similar beat on one of my songs the ride and high hat. 6/8 is the best

@Laurdess Valentino...hopefully this will help...the count for this would be 1 + a 1 + a 2 + a 2 + a 3 + a 3 + a 4 + a 4 + a. When you count that as he plays you find that the bass drum hits are on the 1 and 3 and the snare is on the 2 and 4. Set the metronome to any speed but set it to play just 4 clicks per measure and then count as outlined above. Once I got to understand this it helped me a lot with my playing. I think there are already some videos out there on how to count sextuplets otherwise known as 16th note triplets. Watching those might explain it better than I can here. If you can't find any that make sense I could make one and post it.

Hey Alex, really enjoyed your Video, very funny, you're like the Jamie Oliver of Drum videos, keep it up, love your humour and comments. I am in Centurion (Near Pretoria) in South Africa (From Wales in UK originally). I play in Church and want to improve my African beats. Your video and drum beat is what I was looking for. I am going to incorporate it into my playing, thank you. I'll be sure to check out some of your other videos.

Novice at rhythms question and a guitarist- isn't 6/8 a compound rhythm with accents on the 1 and the 4... ?because 6/8 is really an accommodation of playing 2 dotted quarter notes per measure but the 6/8 is used to accommodate eighths and sixteenths... ? Not that this rhythm is wrong... it just doesn't swing the same way most 6/8 does... like this is like 4/4 with 2 beats added per measure. If someone could explain this to me I would appreciate it.
@redrum5677 жыл бұрын
ipsurvivor This may or may not help: in 6/8, the 8 represents how many notes the whole note gets(1/8notes). The 6 represents how many notes counted. In 6/8, it's counted 123-456, Goo da da Gaa da da, or 1 trip let 2 trip let. That creates a feel of Rlr Lrl which means the lead hand or foot alternates from R to L. That creates the basic pulse for 6/8, but the orchestration can be anything. And yes: 6/8, 1 and 4 accent. 3/4 would be 1, 3, 5 accent.
