Love your book. Retired row crop farmer of corn, cows and kids. Now I farm for beauty and joy and not for bushels per acre. Thank you for helping make my retirement joyful. Stay well and remain positive.

I've been watching your videos for a while now and I'm going back and watching some of your older ones and I absolutely love these types of videos. I have dyslexia and this just puts a whole different perspective on how the gardens look in real life. I like the live shows on Fri but these videos are so so inspirational. I would tell people now in 2022 to go back and watch these because these are wonderful, truly wonderful! Thank you. Also I love the older videos when you talk outside better than the videos inside. Thanks for the inspiration!

So glad I found your channel. I have your book, I watch Danielle @ Northlawn Flower Farms - we are both 6b - and I’m trying soil blocking this year and have just learned from you to do that toothpick trick along with NOT covering my “Siberian Blues”-pink Dianthus (Park Seed) this year. You have also informed me of how **tall some flowers get - I was planning a back/wildflower garden (again, take two this year) and the Scabiosa which did terribly in my front yard should take off back there (south side), and become taller than I expected. Another video I just watched also gave me hope that the Sahara Rudbeckia seeds I got (Baker Creek) will do well and will not be a disappointment. I followed your book this year to try winter sowing Scabiosa, BBs and two types of Poppies (one is from Johnny’s “Champagne Bubbles” the other are the Grey Poppies from Baker Creek which seem to be doing very well so far) - I look forward to learning more in the future.

I cannot tell you how excited I am to learn about cool flowers. Living in Arkansa does not thrill me to be messing around in the hot summer. Cool flowers will be perfect for me once I learn. Spring and summer I have a blueberry u pick operation and that plenty for me. Cool flowers dig- it!

I really wish this "zone 2, zone 9" stuff was all over the world, not just in the USA, because I never know what my subtropical area is equivalent to.

Zones only tell you what the average annual minimum temperature is so you could probably Google it for your location. Zone 8 in Texas is completely different from zone 8 in Oregon aside from that average annual minimum for instance.

I thoroughly enjoyed your video! I wish my growing zone was warm enough to grow the way you do. You’ve opened up a whole new world here .... now I’m confused about how soon I can plant out in the spring! 😄 It would be great to get a jump start like this, but I’m in zone 4 (3b some years ☹️). I’m hoping to sell bouquets at my little natural food store and also gift some to my local food pantry and senior living complex. Thanks for sharing your beautiful flowers! 💞

For excellent weed control I can see being very happy to use a broom to push the stripped leaves to the end of the row then move from row to row end scooping them up, sounds like simple and easy.

@@TheGardenersWorkshop zinnia, bells of ireland, snapdragons, cockscomb, sunflowers, gladiolous. I am growing a lot of other things too but these are in a fenced in spot about 20x30. I am.def a.small.market farmer. I also have a big veg garden with raised beds. Hmm after.writing these down maybe I had better try and find the $ to get more netting.

I'd love to get the book...I just bought another of your books! I live in zone 4b and I know that different rules would certainly apply, such as planting in the late winter a few weeks before my first frost vs. fall planting. I'm just wondering if the book is still relevant to those of us in more northern climes? Thank you for all of your sharing of information, I've been trying to soak up every bit I can!

I think I know the answer to this question but being new and the learning curve is high. You said the Lisianthus and stock are planted weeks BEFORE the last frost. I’m trying to wrap my little head around this. Does this mean the ground could be hard or frozen but you stick them in anyway?
@sunniesflowerco
@sunniesflowerco 2 жыл бұрын
Hi BrendaSue, make sure to prepare your beds in the Fall so that they are ready to plant before your last frost. Definitely don't try to plant into frozen ground or try to work the soil as that will damage it. Alternatively you can do the no-dig method and plant any time you like! Layer down cardboard with 6-9"+ of compost on top and plant directly into the compost. This is the only method I use now as it is so easy and beneficial for the soil....also no weeds! 🌼
