Great video series. Will look into buying your products soon. I need pendants and focal pieces. Is there a way to not fire any stones along with the clay setting/ bezel? I absolutely do not wish to put any stones in the kiln. Could you show us some ways to avoid firing the stone too? This expands my range of available 'stones'.

Hello, if you would like to stay away from firing stones, you would need to create a bezel beforehand, accounting for shrinkage, and set your stone inside the bezel once fired. You can also set your stones in place with tab settings. We have a video on this that you can find here: www.cooltools.us/Project-Video-Tab-Setting-a-Freeform-Cabochon-in-p/ctp-254.htm Also, there is no need to be worried about firing stones in the kiln. There are many stones that can fired without issue. We have a Gemstone Firing Guide, which shows each gemstone that can and cannot be fired, at what temperature, and for how long. You can find that here: www.cooltools.us/v/vspfiles/assets/images/Article-Gemstones_In_Metal_Clay.pdf Hope this helps, if you have any other questions please reach out to sales@cooltools.us or 888.478.5060. We are happy to help!

@@cooltoolsvideos Thank you! That was most helpful. Somehow firing stones is not appealing. Never know which one will survive or not. Nice to know there are other methods for delicate stones.

i have a question, is that real silver? like when you use it, it wont change color it wont tarnish i wanna know its 925? and if its real, where can i buy it? where can i buy that clay ?
@cooltoolsvideos
@cooltoolsvideos 5 жыл бұрын
Hi Borsalino, yes, this is real silver. Once the clay is fired in a kiln, the binders are burned off and you are left with a real sterling silver piece. The clay can be found here: www.cooltools.us/EZ960-Sterling-Silver-Clay-p/ezs-025-p.htm Hope this helps!

@cooltoolsvideos
@cooltoolsvideos Жыл бұрын
A dehydrator is what you put your pieces in to dry before placing them inside the kiln. Metal clay pieces must be bone dry before firing. If you're interested in learning about metal clay, check out our Learning Center: www.cooltools.us/Metal-Clay-s/2330.htm

How long can I fire this in a kiln because of the cz's and can I put this in a tumbler?
@cooltoolsvideos
@cooltoolsvideos 7 жыл бұрын
Hi Danielle, yes these can be put in a tumbler. For firing the czs, it would all depend on what type of cz you are working with. Here is a link to our gemstone firing guide that shows the temperature and holding times for each type of cz. www.cooltools.us/v/vspfiles/assets/images/Article-Gemstones_In_Metal_Clay.pdf The cubic zirconia section starts on page 2. Thank you for your question!
