In this video, Jennifer torch fires an Art Clay Silver piece, and then applies Accent Gold for Silver, which she also torch fires for the perfect 24K gold accent. The raised areas of the piece are burnished. Not burnishing the lower area leaves a white color, which really gives the piece a unique look. Art Clay Silver can be fired using a torch or a kiln.
Jennifer Dins has been making metal clay jewelry since 2009, after a potentially terminal cancer diagnosis in 2006 permanently sidelined her from a 25-year management career, she retired in 2009 and to follow her creative heart and to explore this new medium. Working this clay is easy on her sore hands and joints and allows her to feel a sense of accomplishment every time a piece is complete. The uniqueness of this material allows her to add personalized fingerprints, paw prints and even handwriting directly into the silver. She now believes it is her calling to help people manage a particularly difficult time through the creation of meaningful sterling silver heirloom pieces.

Hi everyone. I watch these great videos so I can learn new techniques and tools, which I am really enjoying. But in my day to day I'm a Canadian bee farmer, so when she said "between maple syrup and honey", my thoughts were; 1, 'I know exactly the consistency that she's talking about. Do you have to use art clay silver to add gold paint? Or can you add gold paint to any type of PMC?

Hi Melissa, we do not recommend using the same dehydrator you use for food. You'll want to keep the two dehydrators separate. One for metal clay and the other for your food.

Hi Leann, you can reclaim silver by sending it in to a variety of places. I would recommend checking out local recycling centers.

It makes no sense to me to first, to fire this without a kiln after knowing the failure rate, and second, to leave the ash from firing on it. It's ugly. If you want color in the background use copper or enamel it.
