I connected it incase i want to change from rgb to argb lights and usb is to use the software but it currently needs firmware update so im using it manually at the moment. Best to connect everything for cable management otherwise u will need to re-connect it again if u need to use the other functions of the controller.

Now currently im using a splitter to connect all of them and it works in the software. but i want to be able to control them individually. meaning one fan can have a red spiral effect and another one can have another effect so on and so forth. How is this ARGB controller able to convert 12V into 5V? Wouldn't it usually require a transformer? Under normal circumstances,wouldn't it fry the 5v peripherals overtime?

I am not sure how but I think it would be easier converting from 12V to 5V as to going 5V to 12V then you will definitely need extra volts.

Actually I am not sure it converts anything (saying this because I have it hooked up to the motherboard by USB only, so fans are powered by the controller via SATA, not the board), it just has internals for both 12V fans and 5V fans, but you can use only one option at a time.

Can you sync that fan you just installed with your Wraith Stealth and Ram? So they can have the same setting (Color/Light/Speed) And what if you have an RGB Fan? Can you sync it too with ARGB fans and the rest of your RGB components?

My understanding is that the product you are showing can take up to 4 separate RGB devices (fans) and outputs 1 RGB controller signal (5V or 12V; personally I need 5V). And that the 4 separate RGB devices do not have settings cloned across all of them, but rather behave like one big composite RGB device. So if, for example, I use software to feed a tri-color flag signal into the controller, and the controller is hooked up to 3 separate fans, each fan will be a different color. Is my understanding correct? Thank you in advance!

You can run any brand as long as the pin connectors fit. The controller needs to recognise the brand also to run software but if not then the controller can work manually.

Argb are usually 3 Pin and rgb are 4 pin..u can make both work with the controller even if your motherboard only has 4 pin. If you don’t have a controller then your argb fan led lights won’t work on a motherboard with only 4 pins.

The controller is like a hub also but if you want to try connecting the controller and a hub give it a try and see if it works. Controller works with all the software apps such as mystic light, aura sync etc.

I cannot get the controller to switch colors. When everything is plugged in the four lights where the 3 pins go are lit up and the two lights where the 3pin, 4pin, and usb are has two lights but they keep blinking. Are they supposed to blink or stay solid white dots?

Just connect the sata and the usb to the mobo and the 3 pin from fan to the controller. You wont need to use the 3 pin or 4 pin in mobo unless you have more than 4 fans to connect.

There is an Asus cable that comes with the controller. That might work with the Asus aura and your motherboard. Currently i can only use masterplus to control it from my motherboard. My Msi Mystic light is not reading my coolermaster argb fan.

Currently they said masterplus software and controller needs a updated firmware to work. You will need to use the mobo software such as mystic light etc.

I am still confused about one thing: the argb fan has 2 wires, a 3-pin for rgb and a 4-pin for rpm. Which goes where? The 3-pin of the fan goes to one of the 4 3-pins of the controller, but the other wire? Sorry if it's a dumb question and/or I misunderstood. I currently have a 12V only motherboard (Asus Prime B450M-A) and I want to know if I can add addressable fans to it - and get the addressable part, the rainbow puke if you will. Also, does the controller work with Cooler Master fans only or could I connect other brand fans? Let's say DeepCool CF120.

1 wire is to power the fan which connects to your motherboard and the other for the rgb which connects to controller or rgb header of your motherboard if your not using controller. Yes you can connect the argb fans using this controller to make the rainbow colours 🤗 you may need fan cable splitters if you have lots of fans to install. Does this help?

You can connect other brand fans as long as it has the same pin structure..not sure about the deepcool fans if it has the same.

Ok, so their 3-pin rgb wire goes in the controller, but to actually spin them I need either splitters or another hub that will go into a fan header on the board, right? If so, I'm guessing a sata powered hub is better, since I saw that a fan header usually gives 1A and 6 or 8 fans are waaay over that.

@@kaleid1990 an argb fan has 2 cables one to the controller to make it light up and one to the motherboard to give power to spin the fan. The fan splitter is used to connect more than two or more fans together. The Sata powers the controller. Are you putting argb fans on your pc?

Again, dumb questions or logic may follow, so please bare with me. I want to, I am just trying to wrap my head around all this, especially given that I want that addressable part of the argb aka rainbow puke effect on a board that apparently doesn't support it out of the box, since it has just the 12V rgb header. I would go as to not care if they spin just at full speed, since anything is better than the crap fans that the case came with :)) I have also mentioned the sata powering the fans (so not the one that powers the controller in this particular instance) because I have also seen fan hubs specifically designed to manage power to a lot more fans than how many can be directly connected with splitters to each fan header on the MB, since I saw in the MB's manual that a header outputs 1A. What I realised now while writing this comment is how do I tell if I go over one header's output? The fans I mentioned, DeepCool CF120, say fan rated current 0.11A and led rated current 0.48A - am I supposed to account for both when deciding the number of fans I connect by splitters to a header or leave out the led rated current since that one is powered by the controller? I currently have some no-name fans, they're just red and they have a single cable each, with a fan header connector and a molex connector. When I started looking over RGB fans, I had NO IDEA it would be this complicated... or perhaps I am overcomplicating everything :))) (which I guess I am since I am trying to pair two different RGB standards...)
