You don't need anything to control motherboard rgb, just the motherboard software. I have set up a lot if rgb builds without controllers or switches. In fact, check my channel. My own PC is working great with no controller or switch. It just won't controll every device individually.

This is the perfect option for an older motherboard with no 5V, 3-pin ARGB header. My old MSI B350M Bazooka doesn't have squat for ARGB but fortunately has an old USB 2 header that I am going to use for this. Great vid!

YOU CAN NOT USE 2 of these devices together. Razer only allows one per pc. At the time of recording I didn’t know this because it was a new product. The reason they used molex instead of sata is because molex can handle more power. I did not know that at the time of filming. Fortunately a few people commented to let me know why. @@Driftdee I have done it and haven’t had any issues however that will depend on how many fans/rgb devices are connected, how much power all those devices are using etc. in most cases I’m sure it will be safe but this is something you’d have to be careful with. I believe if you’d try to get it to use too much power it would just not work. I don’t think anything catastrophic would happen since you’re not overloading anything, you’re not really feeding any extra power into it you’re just trying to pull more power which in turn should just either turn off or dim everything. I’m not an engineer so this advice may not be the best but just speaking from experience. Do this at your own risk.

This device can support 240 LEDs. Each LED can draw 0.05A at full brightness, so 12A total. I want to see your face when you realize that you SATA power connector(that can handle only 4.5A) is melted :D Fortunately for you, Razer made it impossible by using Molex connector that can handle 11A according to specification.

I really love this thing, the customization it´s almost unlimited. Just interesting Facs about it, is that if you run out of ports, you can conect argb strips together with a cable in series because each port support up to 80 individal LED. I have Panthec led Neon strips conected in series (2 Led strips in each port) and works smooth!

The only thing I wish you showed was the fire effect on the strips and fans. The biggest reason I'm looking at this product is because I have a Razer keyboard that has the chroma studio and I love the fire effect so I've been buying other razer stuff to sync to it. My only worry is that the fire effect wont look good on fans and the light cables.

Razers software seems to be doing somewhat suspicious things. Ended up returning this item. Just thought id share and warn others. You can look it up online fairly easily or if you want you can read razers Terms of Service, there it will tell you what they have access to on your computer.

Yeah it will allow any motherboard with a usb 2.0 port to get ARGB functionality. Great option if you don’t have ARGB headers.

Sorry just one more question ! From the video it looks like you just plugged your Lian Li fans directly into the razer chroma hub and it worked as far as controlling the RGB lighting on it - but I wanted to confirm this was true? I know it sounds like a stupid question but the only reason I ask is.. I've seen some reddit comments in the Lian Li part of that reddit where they report that they have to plug their Lian Li fans into a Lian Li " L hub" and connect the rgb 5 volt 3 pin cable from that hub into the chroma controller and then they can use Razer's Synapse program to control the Lian Li RGB lighting, otherwise they can't control RGB lighting on the Lian Li fans. But if I understand correctly in your situation you did not have to do that? (I am considering buying the Lian Li 216 PC case, RGB edition which has a hub built into it that controls RGB and gives power to the fans so I'm wondering if I should just hook up all the Lian Li fans to that Lian Li 216 hub, take the 3 pin RGB cable from that hub and plug it into the razer chroma)

SATA power connectors can safely provide up to 54 Watts of power. Molex power connectors can safely provide up to 132 Watts* of power Molex technically can carry even more wattage, so that's why you will see the higher end products like these have molex connectors instead of sata. It's because it is BETTER!

I think you can only use one of these controllers in your systems. Razer Synapse does not detect more than one of these.

The reason why they went with molex is to get more power into the device. This think can control up to 80 Led per channel or 240 in total.

Yeah anything that has ARGB should work with this. The front fans used in this build are actually the stock Lian Li Lancool 215 fans and they worked beautifully with this controller. Thanks for watching 🙏

first of all, love the build, and love your attention to detail. however, there is still one part that could use clarification. so you said you can only put in one of the strimer plus cables into the razer controller because with all the other fans and stuff you will have used up all 6 ports, which makes sense. now the thing is, the 24 pin one came with the lian li controller for the strimers, and on it you can plug both of them into it. then, off of the lian li controller is an argb cable usually meant to be plugged into the motherboard or another splitter. 2 things, i know that you cannot exceed 240 total leds on the whole razer controller, and i know that if you daisy chain multiple components into one port, it will show up as 1 whole device in synapse. BUT, i am asking you to ignore those problems as i have a lot of other things i am taking into consideration and research and such, and so i just need to know, very detailed, of what would happen if you plugged the argb cable that is coming off the lian li controller into one of the ports on the razer controller, and exactly why for what reasons. if you dont know, its alright, but legitimately, any and all info and ideas and reasonings and theories and data and attempts and absolutely EVERYTHING that you could have to say to me, i would really, really seriously appreciate it so much, and it would mean everything to me, so thanks again man!

I'm really liking this product the only problem I seem to have is with my Alpha cool GPU block. The addressable RGB header fits so loosely in the controller that I can literally turn the controller on its side and have the cable fall out. A little hot glue fix that LOL other than that functionality is excellent

Okay so first off, great video. It was in depth. I have a few questions though So I was planning on buying both 12 and 8 pin Lian Li cables. And as shown in the video, 5 fans were connected and then the cables were connected. Since there are 2 cables, how does that work. Is there a dongle that can convert 2 connections into just one? Also I have another question, as shown in the earlier parts of the video, you are seen connecting the controller into the motherboards. There are 2 connectors and you use both for just one controller, and then later, you state that it’s possible to use 2 controllers. How would that work? I’m going to build my PC soon and I just want to make sure I’m getting everything right. My motherboard is the Razer x ASRock B550. Thanks!

The only thing I wish is that the controllers stored the current setting so the lights would stay on correctly when the software isn't open. It sucks that the software has to be left open for it to work and that the lights don't look correct when booting the PC until the software loads.

What fans are the dual ring models on computer you used for demo? Most double face fans with lighted blades are 24, 26 and 28 led models which would prevent daisy chaining them, you would end up with 52 0r 56 led to a port. I could limit myself to 1 fan per port, but I have other RGB I would like to install. Can I daisy change fan and light strip in the same port? Chinese fans almost all have 6 pin to work only with their hubs.
