I spent 3 1/2 years puting my nova together and did not turn the key till it was ready to go down the road with tags and insurance, started it up, broke in the cam, changed the oil and went down the road, the first build in 46 years i did that way and it was worth the wait, everything worked perfect.

I was believing this til he said everything worked perfectly.... In 3.5 years of wrenching, not one nut bolt or anything was missed? No wiring issues? No rode height adjustments, or tuning? You started a motor you hadn't tuned, broke in the cam and it was perfect? C'mon now

They missed a BIG opportunity in building a car like the normal everyday guy is though. Don;t get me wrong it's a NICE car and build but people nowadays don't have the 30-50k it would have cost them to build that car. They COULD have yanked that 400 and Auto trans out and rebuilt them and put them back in, you know... like we would have done. They could have pulled the body off the frame and sand blasted the frame and thrown a couple coats of lizard Skin/Frame Paint on it and then cleaned up and rattle can blacked the suspension parts and put it back together with new bushings and bearings, and then throw a new carpet down and some Iroc bucket seats and dye the interior a a med to dark brown color, then put a quality but cheap paint job on it with a updated paint code, could you imagine how GORGEOUS that car would be in the new 2023 Buick Cinnabar Metallic or the 2023 Chevy Dark Ash Metallic, They had that chance and they didn't take it, because that's what people are doing now, noone has the kind of money it would take to build this car the way they built it.

True - all Mechanics charge at least 100.00 an hour to do anything. We have spent at least 6K on our 1996 - it drives like brand new, but has 155K miles, and we don't have 4K to paint it.@@TheREALOC1972

Had a 1971 Impala convertible, loved it, but it disappeared through rust in 1977. Since that time, I have gotten my cars oil sprayed / rust proofed yearly with good success up to now.

In the video title “cooling down”, I recalled reading something in an old racer magazine from Smokey Yunick where racers and others who ran their engines too cool were wearing their engines down faster and losing horsepower due to oil which was too cool and pistons not at proper operating temperature. He stuck by what the engines were designed to run at.

I have an open element on my LS swap and this guy saw it and was like you are killing HP by pulling in under hood heat. He isn’t wrong and I explained I plan on building a box around it someday, but since I have doubled the HP of the TBI 350 I’m not worried about a few lost🤣

Only haters say they are tired of hearing about LS swaps. Hard to argue with their dependability and ease of adding forced air induction without needing to change out a bunch of internal parts in order to handle it.

I'm not a hater, I even think that LS in the Caprice is cool. What I do think is that there are other great engines, Buick (Land Rover), Oldsmobile, Windsor, ect., ect. and I would also like to see them more often.
@TheREALOC1972
@TheREALOC1972 Жыл бұрын
Noones a "Hater" it's just getting old and not most people aren't doing them anymore because the days of going to a boneyard and picking up a LS for $500 are over, it's cheaper now to just get a rebuild kit for your original engine, that "$500 LS engine" os now $1000-$1500 bucks then you have to do all the trial and error and the extra money spent of trying to get it mounted, when you can get a great quality rebuild kit $600-$800, so now your spending half as much money and getting a car that;s worth more because it still has the original engine and trans.

The Sting Ray was the name of the Diesel sub class during WWII. You have to remember.... the Vette came out in 1951 (52 model year) and that was only 5 years after WWII ended, alot of the new cars models during that time was named after war machines of WWII because it was still in use by the military.

@@ashleyjennings5224 Half right, The Sting Ray was named after the Diesel Sub during WWII, The Deisel Subs during WWII were called the "Sting Ray Class" Sub, ever seen Periscope Down? they actually said so in the movie and that's why they named the Sub in the Movie after the class, When Admiral Graham says "String Ray Class 186" Kelsey grammer says "But that's a Diesel Sub!" en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Stingray_(SS-186)

@@TheREALOC1972 If you were to look at the side of Bill Mitchell's original 1958 Sting ray race car the lettering on the front fender has the word Sting with an upper case S, while the word ray was separated and in lower case. Also just above the Sting ray word is a Stingray emblem that is cast in the shape of a Stingray. It's not cast in the shape of a submarine, it's cast in the shape of a fish.

@TheREALOC1972
@TheREALOC1972 Жыл бұрын
paying for it like we would have? 40-50k, the paint job would have cost 8-10 grand, The candy paint they used is $1800 plus they had to use a base coat which another $200-$300, plus they had to use a special urethane Primer-Sealer.... plus We would have to find someone who knows how to spray candy paint and pay them. it probally coast them another 5 grand to have the frame sandblasted and powdercoated, plus they reused VERY little of the original parts, everything was brand spanking new.

Why would you use the heat shrink clamps? God forbid if anything goes wrong you got to redo the whole system again. Plus you can't work on them if you break down on the side of the road. There are way better clamps than that.

This guy doesn't know his rear end from a bucket with a hole in it when it comes to his knowledge of Corvettes. Why in 1954 would the Corvette lose ground to the Thunderbird, when the Thunderbird didn't come out until 1955. And they didn't choose the Corvette name after an airplane, they named it after the WWII Corvette patrol boat.
