You should totally make a learn how to sew series where you do little projects that increase in complexity!! That would be so fun and helpful! 💕💕
@sarasayad_4 жыл бұрын
I second this! I'm having so much trouble jumping between different tutorials, I would be so interested in a learning series!!
@a1nelson4 жыл бұрын
It would be interesting. So far, I think almost all of the projects are intended to be fun and approachable for people in the beginner to confident beginner range (and beyond) and generally be quick enough to create a sense of accomplishment. So, there doesn’t seem to be a huge variation in complexity in the majority of her existing material. On the other hand, if April were to create a new series focused on increasingly complex techniques and projects that incorporate them, that would be really helpful to people that want to grow their skills. She’d sorta become the West Coast version of Tilly Walnes. (Book deal?) Sounds great to me. Excellent suggestion!

Cool idea. 👍 ...Unless the items were from Alibaba or Wish, in which case she’d have to order at least two copies of the same garment in order for her to have enough material to make something that would fit a real human - even one April sized. 😉

Wow! I was planning to make a summer jumpsuit, with a touch of "Victorian underpinnings" style. Just a touch of lace & ribbon here & there. The other difference will be to make it with a slightly heavier cotton & maybe the color of medium purple with lilac trim! Thank you for this tutorial. Take care luv! 💐

I love how you sew correctly by not pulling the fabrics through the feed dog but rather guide the fabric through in front. It’s a pet peeve of mine when I see people pulling rather the guiding!! I like how you use your iron to press your seams.!👏🏻👍🏻.

Even though it wasn’t _really_ a “transformation”, as much as it was a great way to reuse some pretty material, this is one of my top 3 or so favorite projects April has done so far. I generally watch for inspiration and design/construction tips that I can later incorporate to my own designs, but I might try to replicate this jumpsuit more or less exactly as shown. The end result was top notch. I’m not sure if the zipper was intended to be visible or not (no invisible zipper foot), but I like the final effect that the subtle, yet visible zipper gives to this garment. Cool.

How do the inner seams on the clothes you make hold up over time/washing? I didn’t see you serge or zigzag stitch the raw edges on the inside seams.
@Charlie_Fuchs3 жыл бұрын
In the latter close ups of the garment (especially when she sews the zipper) you can see that she serged everything, but didn't show us indeed :) I'd say always zigzag your raw seems! (also I might be using weird words because I'm not an English sewer, but a French one :p )

That dress highlights why I love buying dress's with gathered skirts to thrift. You end up with heaps of usable material to make your project with. I've created a full kids costume from the usable material from one dress that cost $5 or less. Buying the fabric new would have cost $15 to $20.
