In this video, Karen demonstrates a technique called marriage of metals which is an inlay process of two or more different types of metals. She demonstrates the proper sawing techniques, inlays cloisonné silver wire into copper, solders and finishes to a mirror shine.

This is great ! For a similar result without soldering, this is also possible to carve a thin groove of the size of a silver thread, using a very small chisel, and hammer the silver into the groove, then sand and polish the same way its shown in the video. The profile of the groove has to be in a little "dove tail"-shape, like in a carpentry work, To allow the silver thread to be "anchored" into the copper as the thread deforms to fit the groove.

I wonder if you need to use quite that much solder? It seems like there was quite a bit still on the surface that needed to be sanded down.

Why do you say "sodder"? It's got a letter L in the word..because it's called "soLder".
