Very happy with my Cooper anchor. I'm using the small red one with a Yamaha Waverunner. You might be thinking that it's too small - but it works really well, with 2M of 6mm chain and about 6M of rope. Holds very well. My Waverunner only weighs about 250kg, but I'm really impressed with the little red anchor. I have the blue one as well, but I find that it's easier to store the red anchor in my ski's storage compartment.

From Newcastle, fish from my little kayak in Lake Macquarie and the Hunter River. Very helpful video, I have the red model. I will change the setup after watching this video, seems I don't have enough chain, also might try the short chain a couple of metres from the anchor method as I have had issues with the anchor dragging in current. Great product, you guys rock!

Ive got the little red one with 3 metres of light gal chain and about 15 m of rope. Works awesome on my kayak in about 5 metres of swift flowing river. If i want to go deep i just add another 15 m of rope

Does it matter much what type of rope used if one uses the chain method, when tying the chain a boat length away from the anchor? The nylon ropes are expensive, so I was wondering if you felt maybe poly ropes would work as well with the chain. Thx

Hi. I have a Yamaha FX HO. Another user said he recommends the black anchor over the blue one in areas where there may be more waves and current. We definitely see 2 feet of chop regularly and decent current on the regular. Do you think a black anchor, or stay with blue?

I use 1 length of chain same as boat length at the anchor, no ifs or buts!

Pozdrawiam z Poland

I think here is a lot of common sense there. i'm not sure if you thought about the stretchy anchorplait. There is always a compromise, and a big difference twix anchoring a big windage vessel in a Force 10 and dropping a wee plastic anchor from a kayak, where the boater is in attendance and is just stopping for a break,
@adventureswithfrodo2721 Жыл бұрын
your never get the anchor to set with just a rope, unless your lucky. That is why the RODE of an anchor is chain. I use a nylon mesh bag with a 5ish LB rock in it and it holds. I can drag if and you just don't show good anchoring.

Bought after seeing a big heavy as Jetski pulling theirs in and asked about it. Yet again can't comment as haven't used yet but would say the blue 1kg

Hi Athyn's Adventures, Have a look at our other video which explains how to "trip" your anchor. And I briefly explain it at the end of the video above. Anywhere other than reef you should hook up your rope and chain as normal.kzbin.info/www/bejne/pXrNmYyLnqaIrZI

Save weight by using a plastic anchor. Then tie a ton of chain to it, LOL
@CooperAnchors6 жыл бұрын
Hi Tom, Thanks for watching. Im not sure if you watched the whole video though. We tried to explain in detail a few ways of setting up the rope/chain to minimize the amount of chain needed, even how to set up using no chain at all. We'll be shooting more videos soon so any help now would be appreciated. If there is something that we missed or could explain better we would like to know, Clear information is our goal and we're always interested in improving.

I have over 60 years boating experience, and have used anchors ranging from gallon cans of concrete to Rocnas and Mansons. I have used manila, nylon, poly, wire rope, and chain rodes, with kellicks and various chain sections. I have anchored kayaks and Panamax freighters. There are 2 considerations I suggest you think about. In small vessels, I have found by practice that if you add up the weight of the anchor plus the chain, it is often more effective to just use an anchor of that weight with a nylon rode. Also, in a heavy blow, the rode usually goes strait, even chain becoming like a rigid bar. In that circumstance, the anti shock value of the chain is gone, and all you have is the small anchor, where if you went with rope rode and larger anchor, you have a better grip on the bottom. I suggest that you try a set up with no chain, but the heavier anchor equal to the combined chain/anchor weight. With your light anchors, you should get a lot of added holding power for the weight of the chain, if you can achieve the penetration necessary. I suspect you will do great in sand, rocks, or mud, not so hot on oyster bars.
