When doing a scope calculation the depth is not just how deep the water is. It is the depth of the water plus the length the attachment point is above the water. So, if the cleat on the boat is 3', add that to the depth of the water. So in 3' of water at 7-1 scope it would wrong to let out 21' (3 x 7) of rode if the cleat is 3' above the water line. The correct length to put out would be 42' (6 x 7).

fortress guardian and fx7 are perfect for a light anchor to store and use only when you back up to a sand bar setting your front anchor securely and only needing fortress to anchor the rear to the sand bar. I would never use it to try and anchor any where else.

Im confused - Some of your testing shows really sharp up angles. Some anchors will not set if you dont have more chain on the line and more than a 3 to 1 depth ratio.

i'm guessing the fortress didn't do well, i don't use mine much, for my bottom plow works better. but i also didn't realize the fortress has 2 settings, hard and soft bottom i think. hopefully you guys tried each.
