Very nice! I Miss having fresh eggs from my grandpas farm! He had around 250 chickens and sold eggs in town every Thursday. Known as the "egg man" for many years

I'd love to have a regular egg business when I someday get things in order. We do have a few regular customers now, but we can't keep up big demand.

I have a question about the Chicken run @ 4:3. Are the 4x4 posts dug down into the ground, or are they just attached by th 2x4 runners? Thanks for the help
@daddykirbs8 жыл бұрын
+Lee Ralph (Pathway to Self Reliance) Those 4x4s on the chicken run are not buried into the ground. They sit on top of the ground with the 2 2x6s on both side. This method of construction has worked well for me on a few jobs.

*Hi April.* - What a diverse poultry operation you have there Sir!
@daddykirbs10 жыл бұрын
It doesn't feel like much because we've just adjusted with it as it goes, but whenever someone asks me "how many birds do you have?"... I chuckle because the number is alarming to some people.
@ross_spirou_photography10 жыл бұрын
Hey, thanks for providing the link and it is interesting how the breed was developed overseas yet they chose to call it Australian. Possibly because of the Australian duck being used and with that duck possibly being the Black Pacific Duck. I say this is the one for they look like female Mullards and it's the only one that readily breeds with exotic species. The fact we don't have the Australian Spotted Duck is mainly because importing of birds is banned and I'd say it's the main reason why it's not in Australia. Once again, thanks for the channel and the link!!

@daddykirbs10 жыл бұрын
I wish I were off the grid! LOL ... You are the second person in the last few days to ask that. I will need to do a video to tell a story, but basically I just had a desire to live in the country and try to grow some food. The property came with a dozen hens.... so that jump started our chicken operation :)

Really it's not that hard. It can be time consuming when it's time to clean the coops and all, but mostly it's just keeping up with the rotation about who is free ranging and on what day. We normally don't free range them all at the same time.

I'm trying to find homes for my roosters too, but nobody wants naughty roosters. Not sure what to do with them. I don't have the heart to kill them.
@daddykirbs10 жыл бұрын
I understand. I do butcher chickens, but it's not my favorite part of my small farm. I don't like to butcher the roosters really because I'd rather see them be the commander of their own flock somewhere. However it is hard to find homes for them. I've had some calls for them but several have sounded like people that want to fight them. I can't let them go to people like that for sure.
@Flowerhen10 жыл бұрын
Ugh, that is ridiculous! People are bad. Violence...people these days seem to thrive on it. Too much stupid TV. That is why I get along with animals better than most people. LOL. Well, good luck with your roosters, and I am thinking I may have to be stuck with mine for now. =)
